~This would be a question to put to your Dr but I do not believe sleep apnea "just" goes away.

Ok thank you. I get so annoyed to have to travel with this machine and always have to lay a certain way in bed. Thank you

How are you treating your sleep apnoea?

Just still using the cp machine and losing weight. Hoping that will help. Thank you

Why do you think it will go away? Have things changed?

You will probably have to continue to use your CPAP for ever unless your apnoea is as a result of your weight and your weight loss stops your airway collapsing.

I assume you have "Obstructive"?Losing weight definitely will help with this type.

I have the "Central" type where your Brain doesn't tell you to wake up when you stop breathing. Due to this the CPAP made mine much worse so I had to have an ASV machine.

I know the cause of my apnoea, it was years of high dose Opiates for my back. Since coming off all the Opiates, which supress breathing & being treated for Macrocytic Anemia, (which reduces the amount of oxygen to vital organs), another issue caused from the Opiates, I believe my sleep apnoea has now completely vanished.

I use a Resmed Pacewave & can see my sleep pattern every night from my phone using their 'My Air' which is a type of app that collects results from the Resmed machine every night, very similar to the info the sleep clinic get. If you have a Resmed CPAP, you can download My Air from their website & it will pair with your machine.

Over many months my AHI's have dropped from 80 times per hour, down to 0, 0.1, 0.2 etc.

I've asked for another sleep study so I can hopefully stop using as I don't believe I have sleep apnoea anymore.

Good luck.

Thanks Ritchie. I didnt even know of the different types of sleep apnia. I know my doctor told me i needed to lose weight. I will have to go back to my doctor to find out. I think i will also see another pulmonary doctor to be safe. Thank you so much

You're welcome.

There are 3 types, obstructive, central & mixed.

Good luck with it 👍

Have they been monitoring your sleep every so often doing a sleep study? Things that can make or help reduce the sleep apnea is 1 exercise, 2 loose weight, 🤔 you can’t go back in time to regain your youth? Small oral cavity (mouth) and big fat tongue 👅 you can’t really help that but there is some kind of surgery they can do if you have chronic obstructive sleep apnea. Non obstructive sleep apnea the surgery won’t help. I think 🤔 that is about all the factors that play into sleep apnea.

I was recently recently diagnosed with sleep apnea a CPAP was ordered but don’t know what the hold up is but I have oxygen at night because 5yrs ago my oxygen was dropping to 78 in REM sleep the insurance wasn’t approving the CPAP because I wasn’t having enough episodes of stop breathing per hour. So they approved the oxygen at night. I am a little overweight but am loosing some weight. I was doing yoga every evening up till yesterday when the leaking pipe 2nd leak started up. So house is in disarray. So will start back up when everything is back in order.

My last sleep study was in 2017 and i need to get another one especially since in losing the weight. I do notice if i fall asleep without it by accident i do wake up needing some air. Hopefully your cpap machine didnt fall through the cracks. Stay om top om them like i will with testing. Thank you

I will but now need to deal with the leaks and getting everything done to get my house back in order. But I will call them tomorrow or something this week. 😊💕🦋
