Advert for participants.
Are you a disabled mother who uses Local Authority support services to facilitate you in your parenting role within England?
I am a disabled mother myself, and I am looking for participants for my dissertation on the MSc Inequality and Society Course at the University of Sunderland.
What is the purpose of the study?
To examine what current support disabled mothers receive from their Local Authority (LA) and how they perceive this facilitates them in their parenting role. Broader research aim: To demonstrate that supporting disabled mothers with social care services allows for better family outcomes and provides recommendations to local authorities.
What are the possible benefits of taking part?
While there are no immediate benefits for those participating in the project, it is hoped that this research will demonstrate that supporting disabled mothers with social care services allows for better family outcomes. Following the study, I will provide recommendations to Local Authorities (LA).
Who can take part in the study?
I am interested in speaking to people who are disabled mothers and receive support services from their local authority.
You must be aged 18 or above.
If you participate in the research, you will be asked to take part in an online interview via Microsoft Teams or Zoom lasting 1-1.5 hours, where I will ask about your experience of getting LA services that support you as a mother. Alongside this, timelines of significant events relating to your journey as a disabled mother will be created in partnership between the researcher and you as a participant.
I am happy to accommodate your schedule, including weekend or evening interviews. I am also happy to send the interview questions in advance if you want to review them. I will record the online interviews. Interviews will take place during April - May 2024.
All your details will be confidential and anonymous, and any identifying features or locations will be altered. The study has received ethical approval from the University of Sunderland’s Ethics Board.
