This winter having problems with very dry, itchy scalp which gets tender. Have tried different treatments, some too severe as scalp sensitive but still have it. Any suggestions. Thanks Cassiecat

Have you tried taking sea buckthorn oil supplements? I was recommended for dry eyes but have found them to help all dryness. Other than that I find liz Earle’s shampoo and conditioner excellent for my scalp, not sure if you can get that though as you referred to winter and here in the uk is currently summer?

I had problems in the past with a painful irritated scalp , I found black seed oil really helpful. I rubbed it on my scalp at night and washed it off in the morning. My scalp wasn’t dry so not sure its the same problem, maybe argan oil or vitamin E oil might be an alternative?

I hope you find something that helps, best wishes.

Hi, thanks for that information. Shall try that oil and leave it overnight which is what I haven't tried. Cheers, Cassiecat.

I use coconut oil at night before I go to bed , massage it into my scalp and wash off in the am. My scalp is so dry otherwise. I also only use natural shampoo with no harsh ingredients. There’s a lot on the market, but that has helped too

Thanks for that. The main thing seems to be leaving the oil in over night or at least for hours. Shall certainly try that. Fingers crossed. Cheers, Cassiecat

Know the brand so shall look at the ingredients as my skin and scalp get very sensitive at times. Unfortunately until you try something won't know if works. Cheers, Cassiecat.

I might go the other direction and just try to get your scalp really clean without harsh soaps and clean up your diet. I use only a mild soap and then only once a week if you have overall dry skin. In between I just wash my scalp with hot but not too hot water. I have a soft rubber brush to comb through my hair to release dry skin so the scalp can breathe.

I have eczema which I control with a gluten-free, low acid diet. I think this might also help your scalp.

When I start to feel the itchiness of my eczema, I take a homeopathic remedy called Natrum Phos. It is a salt, sodium phosphate and a saline laxative, deemed safe by the FDA but should be avoided by persons with kidney problems. I can actually feel the itch subside. Check it out and give it a try.

Good luck and keep moving forward.
