Is it that Sickle cell trait causes Autoimmune Diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis??

Is it that sickle cell trait predisposes to autoimmune diseases like Rheumatoid arthritis or Diabetes type 1 ???

Hi Ruyam, I don't think so when it comes to SCT being predisposed to anything. Yes they have certain issues but a lot of people in the general population have some kind of health issue. A lot of these health issues can happen to anyone regardless of what genotype they have.

No it doesn’t cause those. Doctors don’t believe trait causes symptoms so they diagnose you with about 20 different diseases instead from lupus to RA to chronic fatigue to fibromyalgia all bc they can’t grasp that you have sickle cell disease that is not quite as severe as if you had 2 abnormal genes since only one gene is abnormal. But about half of the hemoglobins your makes is abnormal and cannot deliver oxygen to the small vessels in your organs your joints your bones they it should be. You will have to slowly educate than that your body behaves similarly to someon e with SS just not as severe but still bad and still can be deadly.
