My son has sickle cell trait

Docs keep saying my 6 yr old is fine.he's not . he always has a pale face and white lips and dizzy .I'm doing more research and taking him back to docs so he can get more tests . i m thankful for this sight to hear we are not alone

If he has trait but is not well then it's likely he's vitamin and/or mineral deficient. Have they tested his iron, vitamin D and vitamin B12 levels? Doctors often have to be fought with to test these.

Hello, he may have SC ....it is sometimes diagnosed as just sickle trait but it is a combination of sickle and a mutant cell. AA is normal .... SA is the trait and SC can mimic the full blown disease under certain conditions which put stress on the body.

Can you explain a bit more. I have Sickle cell trait and beta thalassemia. I am 45 and in general healthy, not overweight. I have had two episodes, one about three years ago, I was in Bogota Colombia, I am from the Coast of Colombia, and I suddenly had vomita, diarrea and exhaustion. Yesterday I was traveling from Galapagos Islands, where I did three hiking trecks, with plenty of water, and about one hour after arriving in a city near the Quito Airport, another high altitude city, I had the exacto same type of episode. The pain in my bones was of a type like I flete they were about to break. They were sore even if I crossed my legs.

I flew back at 6 am, and drank pedialyte until 5 pm. Now I feel better but very tired.
