I was recently in the ER for crisis. I found out at the age of 41 or 42 that I had it. It has been hard at times and hard to stay positive about it. I am so glad I have this organization to discuss it with.

make sure you drink lots of water and not a lot of sugary foods and drinks. The sugar makes your blood sticky and thick. eat lots of green leafy vegetables. I have done this with my son and this seems to help. He has the disease. I have the trait and so does my husband.

Do you have SCD or SCT? I thought SCD was diagnosed a lot earlier.
