Has anyone had a hysterscopy. I have one next week and I am really scared. Is it that painful?

Don’t be scared. They are experts who do this procedure frequently and will make it as comfortable as possible for you. Take some paracetamol in good time to be effective . In my hospital they offered me gas & air ( Entenox) and there are other options if you find it too uncomfortable. Try to be as relaxed as possible and you’ll be fine.

I did not find the hysteroscopy to be a problem. Even my complete hysterectomy via robotic surgery was not as bad as I had feared. (I was sent home the same night!) Embrace the medications as needed (I hardly took any) and be sure to hydrate and walk around the house to keep your GI system going. I will hope for the best possible results for you 🤞

Wishing you the very best. Definitely take some medication beforehand and try to relax as best you can. I had mine in the doctor’s office and was under prepared.

had one 1/15. open abdominal because when they tried to do laparoscopy they saw more cancer. I had omentum and appendix removed. spent 6 days in hospital but i think that was mostly because they had me on so much pain meds i couldn't stay awake for 3 days until i said 'enough with the pain meds'. anyway, there really wasn't much pain. i had staples down from chest to belly button which were removed after 2 weeks and replaced with steristrips. really no pain.

the only discomfort i had was the hospital and the bed! i also have SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overload) which was not diagnosed until after hospital. i think that's why i was uncomfortable with the food (which i could not eat for 4 days) and a LOT of bloating and belching.

don't worry about the hysterectomy. i don't think it is a problem (although some of the things you have to do for a while - getting out of bed funny, not lifting, not bending -- i had encountered with back surgery a year earlier so this was really no different.

I had a hysterscopy and D&C done together. They used a general type of anesthesia (not sure if it was total general or someting similar) so I don't remember a thing. Recovery was quite easy - a little post-op bleeding here and there. I'm not remembering any real pain afterwards. All in all, nothing bad at all.
