Lynparza and OC Recurrences

Hello Ladies,

I was diagnosed with OC in 4-2017, stage 1C Serous grade . Surgery and 6 rounds of chemo. 5-2020, I had my first recurrence. Sugery again, all went well and 6 rounds of chemo. Then my oncologist put me on Lynparza. I am going to be coming off the Lynparza around March 2023. I am nervous but my oncologist told me that another recurrence is in the cancer's favor and it's really a matter of when not if. My stomach dropped, my life and all of my dreams flashed in my head and I am struggling right now as to how to put this in perspective. I am a Christian, so I know not to be afraid and give it to God. But I am shaking in my boots and could use some perspective from women who know from where I am speaking. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to give me your thoughts.

Hi. I also have been on Olaparib/Lynparza since first recurrence and it’s been about 28 months now. Usually people stay on it indefinitely after a recurrence so I am inter that you will be coming off it? I feel crappy on it so part of me would love to come off it but the other part of me is afraid to. Your doctor sounds really pessimistic. It is true that once you a recurrence technically the disease is classed as incurable but PARPs may be changing that. Nobody knows. Don’t let that comment weigh you down!

Hi,

I am so sorry to hear about recurrence, plus discovered early stage 1C.

I was diagnosed in October of 2020, stage 2, high grade serous as well. 6 rounds chemo ending March 2021. I Just had my 2nd scan, NED. All clear.

Were you taking a PARP inhibitor after your chemo? What were your symptoms and tumor marker, CA125?

This would be helpful for others to know as well. Where did the cancer return, sorry last question.

I know this is a constant wondering about this cancer returning, thankfully your cancer was a stage 1, I believe you have that going for you!

I know it’s a constant worry after ovarian cancer….

Others have given you excellent advice.

Take care, Nancy

I’m also on lynparza after my recurrence. I’m on it for over 3 years now. Doctor advised as tolerating well to stay on indefinitely so curious why you are coming off it in March 2023 if it is working well for you? Wishing you continued good health.

When I recurred, I had the same fear that from then on my remissions would get shorter and shorter and that continual recurrences were inevitable. That was back in 2007-8. I got to my second remission and have been NED ever since. That doesn't mean it can't return, but I'm grateful for the 14 years that I've had cancer free so far. So don't let anyone tell you what will happen in the future....unless they tell you ahead of time what the winning $50 million lotto numbers are and they turn out to be correct. Then I want their numbers too. All kidding aside, no one knows what tomorrow will bring. They may know what has happened to 1000s of women in the past, but they don't know what the future will be. Best wishes- Gwen

I don't think it will ever go away. It's like diabetes... you live with it. But you need to understand that people don't get it. Either you are cured or you are dying.... they don't get it. Lymparza didn't work for me, I am glad it worked for you. My Dr. Said I am lucky .... we know Doxol and taxol will work.. it shrinks it, can't see it, then you can and do it all over

Hello SDlady, I’m sure you are concerned about coming off Lynparza I would be too. Did your doctor tell you why they are taking you off. I had OC 2014 with recurring twice in different years. After 3rd time I was put on Rubraca, I was told I’d be on it rest of my life. So please double check with doctor as why your coming off meds. I would definitely need that answer. Prayers to you for always good reports. God Bless.

I see that this was seven months ago but is there an update on your health and why did they stop Lynparza?
