This is the third time I have had chemo for ovarian cancer which is in my liver. One of the drugs was doxial. My treatment was halted due to terrible diarrhea. Stool samples and biopsies taken from an endoscopy are all negative. Had 5 days with no diarrhea after endoscopy and now it has started again. Has anyone had this condition and what was done for you.
Thank you

Did you have a colonoscopy with biopsies? That is what I had done after about 8 months of diarrhea, which followed 6 rounds of chemo plus about 9 months of being in a drug trial. I was told everything “looked” normal in my colon. However the biopsies showed something called lymphocytic colitis. It is a benign condition and the diarrhea can come and go. No treatment required. Was it a result of all the cancer drugs? No way to know, although that’s what I suspect.
Currently the diarrhea has been gone for a couple of months, a situation that can happen with this type of colitis.
Look up lymphocytic colitis. Ask for a colonoscopy with biopsies if you can.
I will have a colonoscopy on Aug 26th so maybe I will find out something. I have a wonderful gastro Doc and there will be biopsies. I will keep you posted when I know something.
