I have a friend who is in treatment and is experiencing a sever rash on her face. She says it's like a bad sunburn and it is very painful. 1) has any of you had a sunburn like rash from any of the treatments you've had and 2) was there anything that provided you relief? She goes to bed with ice packs on her face so she can get to sleep. She's tried a number of lotions and none seem to provide anything but a very brief period of relief. Any suggestions? She has tried aloe.

Question about rashes and chemo
What does her doctor say? It sounds to me like maybe they need to change the chemo drugs that they are using. The rash could be a sign of inflammation that is going on elsewhere in the body. I had a bad reaction to carboplatin that started with a rash and ended up in throat constriction and could have led to death if they hadn't stopped the chemo. It doesn't sound like she is having that kind of reaction, but it sounds bad. As for creams, I don't have any great suggestions. Just try different things and slather it on. Ice is probably good too. So sorry about this side effect. Sounds awful.
Have your friend see a dermatologist! Chemo and lynparza give me burning rosacea. I was told to use strong sunblock if I go outside, to stop caffeinated beverages, hot beverages, eating chocolate and alcohol which all aggravate skin. Root cause however was the chemo. I followed that and it went away. ALL THAT SAID, your friend could be having a progressive allergic reaction and her oncologist must take this seriously.
