Help....

I have just found on Sunday that I have two masses one in each ovary that are very significant in size. I had a transvaginal ultrasound and a catscan and the blood test for CA 125. Dr was moving very quick on everything. The blood test came back within normal limits. Has anyone else had this? I have alot of the symptoms and am concerned.

Hi Jen,

I can't help you but I can bump this up to the top of the list for a while. Hopefully someone will respond. Take care. XXOO

All the doctors stress that the CA125 test is not a perfect test. Hopefully, you have benign cysts or something like that. I’m glad your doctor is taking your symptoms seriously! Keep hounding her/him until you have your answers! A PET scan might be next.

Stay strong!

Hi Jen. Stay on top of it and listen to your doctors. If something doesn't seem right, follow up. Will you be having surgery?

It's great that you have a proactive doctor and they want to move quickly. Someone mentioned a PET scan. My GYN oncologist said that a PET scan is not effective for ovarian cancer (if that's what you have - let's pray it's not and that the tumors are benign). I've learned that the CA125 is a marker for inflammation. If it's cancer, that marker is often a very high number (above 700 but could even be over 1000). That it's in normal range (0-30) is a good sign. But as someone else mentioned in her reply, it's not conclusive and it can be a fickle number. Since you have symptoms, push to be referred to a GYN Oncologist. My GYN moved very fast and I was referred to a GYN Oncologist within days of my CT scan and was in surgery a week later. From time of diagnosis to surgery was 2 weeks. I am very thankful everyone moved so fast on my behalf. Keep us posted on what you learn.

I think Lobster2 gave you great advice. Don’t let that number stop you from continuing to get definitive answers.

Hi Jen, do you have a copy of your ultrasound? One thing I’ve learned is to be very proactive, get copies of all reports, scans, blood tests etc. what type of masses are on your ovaries? My CA125 was normal and I had ovarian cancer. My CA125 was 31 and the limit is 35. Anything on your ovary should be fluid filled, my masses were complex so they could see in ultrasound that there was something there and they still ignored. Best of luck to you stay informed and push the Drs!
