I have HFS just in my fingertips: cracks on a couple finger pads and also next to a couple nails. Of course I lubricate with a variety of creams, Aquafor, shea butter, cerave with urea. But they really hurt and its really hard to get them to heal. I recently saw an ad for “liquid band aid “ and reviews say that it stops the pain and heals very quickly. Has anyone used that?
I also use Diclofenac cream as a preventative; maybe that’s why I only have problems with a few fingers. Having said that, the pain really affects my well being. (And this is a time when I should be in a happy place because Xeloda has caused my TM to plummet!)
I’d love to hear if anyone has any suggestions, and in particular if anyone has used liquid band-aid.

I use CBD body Oil from Green Compass. It soaks into my skin and doesn’t feel greasy or slimy. I love it!! I don’t have HFS, but the Enhertu really affects my skin and the cracks in my fingertips were really bad until I started using the oil.
I imagine other brands would help, as well. Good luck!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🩷
I was on Xeloda for 5 months and developed severe HFS , some on my hands but mainly on the soles and heels of my feet. I used over the counter topical lidocaine cream just to be able to walk! It won’t promote healing but it should provide some relief.
I have, in the past, used Liquid Bandaid and it did work. It may be worth a try. I hope this helps. Quality of life is most important!!
Helen! Piqray has caused me some issues with my fingers and nails…the liquid bandaid will work for a short period of time….it does wash away after a while. But it’s a good form of temporary relief for sure! I’ve started using Vitality Extracts essential oils …they are healing and help with pain. Helichrysum is especially helpful. Frankincense is very effective for neuropathy pain in my feet and arthritis . Just a thought…but sometimes you just want to NOT take another pill. Best wishes ❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹🙏
Yes! I know what you mean about not taking pills! I actually had a four week respite because I had surgery on my femur. My hands healed and I definitely noticed the difference in how I felt. However, my TM jumped higher, and when I resumed the meds, the TM continued to go down. This is the first time tM is as low as when I was first diagnosed. It’s a pretty good feeling, so I’ll take the side effects. 🤣. But I’m switching Xeloda to 7 days on, 7 days off.
It might not be much of help but doesn't hurt to try - I put on my hands cotton spa gloves after putting cream on...for few hours during the day and during the night...helps me when the skin is acting up.
My oncologist paired Xeloda with Keytruda post-mastectomy. I was diagnosed 3/23 with Stage 2B (no lymph nodes or metastases).
He wanted me to do eight three-week rounds (2 weeks of daily Xeloda and one week off).
I started using Voltaren Gel (dixlofenac gel) a couple weeks before starting Xeloda based on what I’d read about HFS. I applied it twice daily.
All went pretty well through 4 rounds.
I did pretty well, until round 5. My cuticles around fingers and toes began blistering and peeling. I also had trouble feeling with fingers.
After taking two weeks off after round 5 (take a break if needed!!) I started round 6 and was pretty miserable.
While skin peeled off on and between toes, I could still walk. Using Voltaren gel was tough. It hurt to touch hands and feet.
I told oncologist I would do one more round - round 7 - and then I was done with Xeloda. He had recommended 8 rounds but saw hands and feet and agreed to 7 rounds.
I completed Xeloda 5/31/2024. It took about three months for skin on cuticles of hands and feet to grow back. They were very dry and hard. I used Cera-Ve lotion frequently on hands and feet.
5/31/2025 will be a year post-treatment. My thumbs and index dingers still have skin with little feeling.
I wish I had a solution for you. I would recommend taking a break when you need to. This medicine is very powerful but its side effects are not insignificant.
I wish you all the best and am happy, happy to hear that it’s helped in your treatment of this disease..
