eyelash loss from chemo

yes I did … that was 22 years ago and my eyelashes grew back very sparsely after chemo. I got a prescription for a lash serum… they grew in amazingly! After I stopped using the serum, they did become less full but were still fuller than before. Eyelashes are important for your eyes… not just a cosmetic issue! Ask your doctor.
There might be some natural versions without synthetic hormones but most of these types of products mimic or stimulate hormones and are therefore not recommended for breast cancer patients. That being said I have heard of people using them and ironically there is a very successful one that I can't remember the name of that was actually developed by a husband for his wife recovering from chemotherapy for breast cancer....I suppose it's different if you've been early stage and are then going to be cancer free...or if your stage 4 MBC and therefore constantly trying to suppress hormones as part of the long term therapies.
I know that my cancer free friend had used a product suggested by her beautician and it had worked great and she was thinking to get it for me....but when she asked the beautician they contacted the company and they said they didn't recommend it to be used by MBC patients.
Years ago I used false lashes and no one knew. Now they have really good false lashes that you can apply that have a magnetic strip that holds them in place - much like applying eyeliner.
I have also had some success with Liasion serum. It's not terribly expensive, $25 with their usual discount code. It doesn't bother my eyes and seems to work.
Good luck and God bless in this journey.
Hi Kathy. I had some success with bimatoprost (Latisse). You can use it for both eyelashes and eyebrows. For regular hair loss, I have also found that oral minoxidil is pretty effective. You can consult with a dermatologist, or even an oncodermatologist if you have one in your area. Good luck!!
I have been doing false eyelashes for four years Love them
I just started using Latisse 3 months ago and can tell a really big difference. I told my optometrist I felt shallow for asking but that I really would like to have some eyelashes back. He was so understanding and gave me a prescription for Latisse. It took a couple months to see much of a difference but I’m very pleased with the results as I continue to use it. It’s helped me to regain some confidence in the way I look.
Greetings Sister/Warrior, an yes Thriver😇. I have a girlfriend who works in the theater industry who taught me how to apply strip lashes on my lids very close to my natural lash line, but not touching my natural lashes. She told me that way you save your natural lashes😊. I do have to use the stronger clear glue for this application😊. I also sometimes apply strip lashes to my natural lashes with a different less sticky black glue. I actually purchase my lash strips from the dollar store,, and the glue from the beauty supply store. I do apply them using a 5-time magnification mirror. I wear them whenever I go out, and I get compliments all the time. You can have different types of lash strips, longer, shorter thicker, thinner, human hair, or synthetic and even colored lash strips🙃. Wear what you are comfortable with. I have sporty for when I work out. I have longer thicker ones when I go out dancing. I guess you can say I am a lash connoisseur. I hope this helps, and you enjoy you newfound Diva-🙃licious lashes😉
