I had my second Enhertu infusion yesterday without a hitch. The breast cancer center I go to has the infusion center on the second floor and the oncology offices on the first floor so it’s all very easy and convenient to get in and out of. It’s part of Orlando Health and this center is in Ocoee. My oncologist moved to this location several years ago and it’s much easier than driving to and parking in downtown Orlando. As we all know, it’s the little things on this journey that can ease the angst, and this little thing does a lot for me.
Yesterday they gave me a room with a view of the pond. We saw some interesting birds around the pond and looked them up in my Merlin birding app, so that helped pass the time. They changed my Enhertu infusion length from 90 minutes to 30. I talked about it with my oncologist before the infusion and he assured me it wouldn’t change any reaction to it, so I let it stay at 30 to see what happened. The answer is, nothing really, other than I got done and was home an hour earlier. I was a little more tired that night, but I’ve been getting up and walking at sunrise so I can’t really blame evening weariness on the infusion since I got up and walked that day. The conversation with my oncologist helped. He’s a straight shooter and wouldn’t do anything that would make the patient experience worse.
So that’s my uneventful 2nd infusion. When the pre-infusion meds wear off in a few days I’ll check back in and let you all know if I have another 2-day nap.
Stay strong and march on!
