Zolodex/Letrozole help?

I’m hoping someone on here can help me.

I was diagnosed with metastatic BC in August last year. I was pre-menopause so I was put on Zolodex injections in October and 6 weeks ago I started Letrozole.

A few days ago I started to have some gyne symptoms which had all gone away since being on the Zolodex. I had some discharge which had brown blood in it and when I went to note it in my period tracking app I noticed that previously I would have been expecting an ovulation around then. I ballooned in my lower abdomen the next day, I weighed myself and I had gained nearly 1kg! I’m usually quite skinny and my hip bones are still prominent but I just dome like I’m pregnant in between. And then this morning I woke to a lot more discharge. I also realised that I had been having quite loose bowels in recent days too.

I consulted Dr Google and it sounds like Ovarian Hyperstimulation, known to happen sometimes when Letrozole is used in fertility treatment. But I’m confused surely the Zolodex had shut down my ovaries? I’m really worried now having read about OHSS and the possible complications.

I called the hospital this morning but I’m still waiting for someone to call me back.

Have any of you experienced this?

Hi. I have been on letrozole for almost 7 years and have bled several times … while going to bathroom, wipe blood or even enough to “pee out” … this has happened about 5-6 times. Anyway, just sharing that I think it’s a possible side effect. I never did anything about it …. It never lasts. (I was on the shots in the beginning for being premenopausal at 45, but only for about 5 months maybe — then I decided to have a complete hysterectomy.). Very Best to you!
