Her first doctor told her she was Terminal. She switched doctors. Her next doctor gave her hope. 19 years later she is still alive enjoying family. 🙏

It is a lovely story. I also admire her strength of character to seek out the right Doctor and both her and her Doctor’s positive can do attitudes.

Wonderful story.! Thanks for sharing. In some ways it is very advantageous to be HER2+. Those treatments seem to be long lasting with few side effects overall. According to data kept by the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI), more than 90% of people were alive five years after receiving their diagnosis of HER2+. That's far superior to any other hormone type. Herceptin and Perjeta are very effective and many of the new ADC's being developed work very well for this type too. Great to see so many advancements. Sadly I am not HER2+.

March 1 will be twenty years for me, too! "Extensive bone mets" and I haven't had pain or other symptoms from those until about two months ago and five rad txs fixed that. Some of us do really well for a long time and no one ever knows how long we have!

Hope is real! I love this woman's story, we need to hear from these long thrivers, they can teach the doctors more than medical school and residency programs!

Agree. Long thrivers have much good news to share. So Thankful my oncologist is not Dr. Doom & Gloom. He always provides hope with honesty. People would be surprised if they knew how much laughter my care team and I share when we meet. It has allowed me to continue to enjoy life to the fullest.

That's what we like to hear

Absolutely this is the positive hopeful message we need to hear. Her story is inspiring. The oncologist pointing out all the ongoing research into new treatments to extend life and provide a cure is miraculous. I love how she refused to label herself “Terminal”. Thanks to her unshakable faith, she is living, not dying each day. She is someone to be admired.
