Trying to find triple negative success story for a Friend

HI - II have a friend who has triple negative. I know I connected with someone who was triple negative for over 10 years - If you have a success story it would really help boost her spirits and maybe connect. I know she’s in a dark place and can use the support. I’m ER/PR+ HER- I was diagnosed January 2022 so my treatment is much different, she was diagnosed 12/2021. Any help is appreciated and as an FYI, I will forward on to her.

Yes, I think you’re right I remember that. LynnFish is great and is so helpful. I think your sister is TNBC and works with her husband on a fishing boat if I remember right. How is your wife and your sister doing? Hope all is going well.

Yep. My sister is TNBC. She actually has been having some recent pain so she took break from Halibut Fishing trip and seen her Oncologist. My wife is doing well. She had low WBC this time so Ibrance has been lowered to 100, hopefully that does the trick. She was gonna mention 2 weeks on and 2 Off to her Oncologist aswell. I pray both stay healthy my Children and me need them dearly.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I know 2 people I met with triple negative back in 2009. They both had had double mastectomy at that time (I don’t recall their Stages) and were on Herceptin. I’m not in contact with either much these days but they’re both still kicking! That is 13 years now!

Hi all....I just hopped on the site to see how everyone was doing, no time to post, but did reply to PM from DDIL1 re; MTNBC/my sis, then thought I should copy-paste it here in case others on the site find this topic in search or whatever...give me one sec...

Agreed! She is a RockStar!💥

Here's a copy-paste (with tiny edit/clarification) main body of message...apologies for length...

"My sister was dx'd originally, Stage I, TN, 12.333 years ago. 7.3333 years ago, dxd metastatic with one tumor in her sternum. They radiated that fully, gone. About two years later, some mets cropped up in her lung. Rather than sample biopbsy, they removed the whole thing, a "wedge". She then wen't another couple years NEAD, then some more mets in same lung. Removed another wedge. (btw, my point re: the wedges is to -- if possible -- remove the entire thing, not just take a sample of it).

She's now 3 more years NEAD, *might* (?) be a bit of new activity in lungs (both), but will rescan in 3 months. If it's cancer, they will remove wedges on both sides.

My sister once asked, "How many times can they remove wedges?" Her doc said he's heard of as many as TEN!!!

And there's the kicker....she takes no treatment!! After initial metastatic dx, she did chemo (some platin?) and rads. Since then, nada. She was tested and disqualified for immunotherapy (a *great* development in treatment of TNBC) and is not yet to a point where taking any available IV treatments is warranted.

She attributes most of her good luck to just that...luck....dumb luck/immune system. But also possibly diet (pescatarian), is sort of a natural intermittent faster (where as I do it deliberately), and exercise (she intermittently "runs" (sort of very slow jog, but def engages large muscles and cardio/respiratory) and....odd as it sounds...gardening for many hours a week (chooses to week her entire lawn by hand, it's also meditative and good for the earth), which means basically a million leg lunges. So, again, exercise, which is proven to release cancer-fighting chemicals, something like interluekin (???). Of course, it's mostly luck/innate immune system...

I am *so* thrilled by my sister's course of disease (her children are younger than mine, although she's two years older...so we def needed her to live longer!) and I find it inspiring....and evidence of how much our own bodies, either inherent traits (which cannot be predicted/affected) or lifestyle (which can) might possibly make a difference..."
