Hello everyone - hope you are all well.

Has any Canadians been able to get travel insurance with MBC? What company and was price exorbitant?

I currently have travel insurance through work but that will come to an end and wondering how tough it is going to be to get travel insurance.

Thanks

Hi!

It was pre-COVID so the pricing is irrelevant now however we did get extra insurance.

Like you we have insurance through (my hubbie’s) work but I was worried and took out Blue Cross too.

The most important thing seems to be having your doctor sign off that you are stable for a minimum of 3 months and you are on maintenance and not active treatment. At the time I had been on Ibrance /Fulvestrant for 2 years and so she had no problem signing off, that was January 2020.

I haven’t been stable since August 2021 so we travel within Canada only, map out cancercare facilities for our trips.

We looked at going state side this summer and staying within a 16 hour drive from the nearest Canadian cancercare. It didn’t happen cause I changed treatment in August; I knew something was not good in June when I needed scans. There was also the issue that both of my sons moved in the summer and we wanted to help.

Don’t imagine I will be traveling any time soon as I am now slated for spinal surgery.

Please let me know if you are successful with getting coverage as fingers crossed I do have years of travel ahead 🤞and coverage is a must especially when cruising.

Good luck

Tammie

Thanks for the reply. I am future tripping because I am on LTD at work, so still have insurance for 2 more years. I have been stable on same medication and no changes for 4 years and thinking positive and believing I will be travelling in 2 years. I love getting away, Hope all goes well with spinal surgery and a trip is in your future
