UTI relief

I've had UTI's since my 30's ... I'll be 70 next year. I am used to the 10 days of antibiotics (I hate them they make me feel ill) and I do not miss that one bit after I found out that I can take one capful of apple cider vinegar and one capful of pure lemon juice in 12 oz. of water and it's GONE BY THE NEXT MORNING. I have now done this 3 times, so in my thinking, IT WORKS, because like I said, I've had massive experience with UTI's for 40 years; I do this at the first sign of one coming on; I AM NOT A DOCTOR disclaimer, but a seeker of natural ways to help me stay healthy in this journey. God bless you and heal us all in Jesus name, amen! Since I was bragging about this, I actually had to take it two days in a row to get rid of this latest UTI ... still better than antibiotics!

it might work with just the ACV but I had the lemon juice on hand so I made it a "double shot" so I'm not actually sure which one is doing it <3 Nice "seeing" you dear heart! <3 and you're most definitely welcome! Isn't God good to give us so many blessings!

Thank you so much. I am going to try this. I have had some success myself by drinking much more water and the occasional ounce of brandy in hot water. This has helped me avoid the antibiotics that were not very effective anymore. But I will definitely try this as soon as I feel a bladder infection coming on. Yes, thank you and bless you dear lady. Worth a try as I have had loads of UTIs since my first treatment in 2005. I also find d mannose good, especially for heading them off early.

Thank you for this!! It seems that this is a side effect of Ibrance and I am getting them frequently!! I’m so tired of running to the doctor for a “confirmation “!! I’m going to try this!!

God Bless you and Happy Thanksgiving!! 🧡🙏🏻🧡

I have used your formula and it has worked for several of my friends. By adding the lemon juice it helps with digestion as well. I have used pomegranate juice with some success as well. 8oz of pomegranate juice a day also helps to create/increases the gut bacteria Akkermansia. Akkermansia has an inverse relationship with obesity, diabetes, inflammation, and metabolic disorders.

what is an inverse relationship as I'm diabetic? thanks in advance :)

Thank you for that information. I will look up Akkermansia to figure out what it is. I also tried the lemon juice/apple cider vinegar one morning because the night before I felt my bladder infection coming on. I had a very small hot brandy at bed time that evening and in the morning I took the lemon juice/AC vinegar in 8 ounces of water and my bladder infection was completely gone. I sure hope others try this. I also found out that drinking lots of water helps. I now believe that many women who get UTIs are probably dehydrated. Because when I started drinking lots of water I had far fewer infections. It is hard to drink that much water but I do it because I am so sick of bladder infections. They destroy my sense of well being and make me feel like staying home and hiding. So if all of us can get rid of them it will be a wonderful thing. Hugs Marlene

oh so great to know! for the first time in quite a while I had to drink it two days in a row but it is still gone today, the 4th day! <3 You are so right about getting dehydrated and getting UTI's. I am NOT a water drinker, I try to gulp alot down when I take my pills because I know that is probably all I will drink, shameful I know but true :( God bless you and heal us all in Jesus name, amen! <3

If you do get time to research Akkermansia I would be curious to hear your thoughts. I read about it in Dr Li's book "How to Beat Disease - The Body's Five Defense Systems and the Foods that Could Save Your Life." and small chapter in Dr Williams' book "The Immunotherapy Revolutions: The Best Next Hope for Saving Cancer Patient's Lives"

I take a small amount of pure cranberry juice each day, diluted and with water and with a bit of pure honey added.I was also told to take care of gyno urinary health so I use a product called hyalofemme. It has worked for me . Good luck!

Thanks for the information. I agree with you.I had a nutritionist to give me this recipe for metabolism and natural electrolytes. If you feel parched, drink this. This has helped my leg/food cramps at night too. Plus I try to drink a minimum of four 16.9 oz bottle water a day. I put out four everyday to help me remember to drink water.ACV cocktail

1 TBS apple cider vinegar (I use Braggs)

2 drops liquid stevia

1/4 slice of citrus fruit (lemon, lime or orange)

Ice

8 - 12 oz sparkling water or club soda

Hi Cowgirl,

What part of the recipe is restoring your electrolytes? Is it the sparkling water or club soda or the fruit. I have occasionally taken coconut water to replace electrolytes and I heard that a bit of sea salt also replaces electrolytes. I did this while I was fasting. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

I have recently started fasting 20 hours a couple of times a week. I feel better and have lost a few pounds. And I am trying to stay away from carbs and sugars by eating more low glycemic veggies and a bit more protein. It is sort of a modified keto diet which encourages taking in healthy fats too. Dr. Sten Ekberg is the guy I watch on You tube and he offers advice on how a person can help themselves heal using fasting. My husband fasted for 72 hours recently. He has some serious health issues but the most notable thing is that he stopped aching. Now he is eating less but not totally fasting. We both would like to fast at least one day from time to time and then for longer times like 36 hours and 72 hour. And maybe try the 5 day fast but right now that is pie in the sky. It takes bravery or insanity to do it. I just remember my Sunday school teacher telling us that Jesus fasted for 40 days in the desert. I am not very religious but it makes me think that 5 days would be safe. Especially if I was replacing my electrolytes.

My doctors would likely not approve but they seem to be a step or two behind the science - especially nutritional science. I once asked my oncologist if I could take CBD and he was horrified. He didn't think it was a good idea. That part of marijuana does not create a high but is supposed to be good for everyone and not dangerous and my daughters friend took it while being treated for breast cancer and she tolerated the chemo very well.

I was not quite brave enough to try the 72 hours but maybe I will do it eventually. I think it is best to do small fasts to begin with. When I fast I still take my Ibrance and Letrozole and my thyroid meds but I drink lots of fluids and almost totally water. I do not get hungry when I drink lots of water. But I am nervous about taking long fasts. Do any of you ladies have info on fasting while on the Ibrance/Letrozole combination of drugs.

Sorry for the long email. I get carried away. Thank you for sharing. Hugs Marlene

Hey Marlene,Both ACV and citrus is good for electrolytes. When I use to get UTIs I would drink 64 oz of frozen lemonade as fast as I could but I am not fond of the sugars in frozen lemonade.

I have watched Dr. Sten Ekberg on YouTube too. He is a wealth of information. I can't get into fasting seriously. I do sleep late and don't eat as soon as I get up. I eat twice a day with healthy snacks. So that is a kind of fasting. Like you I try to do the low carbs and stay away from sugar. I don't know how Jesus fasted for 40 days. I couldn't do 40 hours. LOL. I am looking forward to after the holidays so that I don't see mashed potatoes for a while. I love them. Hugs, Kay

Thank you Kay for your response. Sounds like you are being careful with your diet. I sure didn't have any idea that citrus was good at replacing electrolytes. My husband fasted for 72 hours and is now weak as a kitten so I will give him freshly squeezed orange juice to drink with some lemon in it. And of course I will drink that too. I suspect the loss of electrolytes is causing his weakness. Thank you again. Hugs Marlene

I have ILC ER/PR+ HER- taking Verzenio/Exemestane (Aromasin). My initial ONC freaked out about a lot of the things I was doing which (supplments, diet etc) prompted me to seek a new ONC. My current ONC is very receptive to the metabolic approach combined with traditional treatment. There is a lot of research on fasting and the effects on cancer (in a positive way) if your body allows it. I do my best to eat a low glycemic diet (although not diabetic) to try and limit blood sugar spikes to limit insulin production.

Hello and thank you. Yes, I am trying to get my nourishment from a mix of quality protein - some meat etc and good quality low glycemic veggies. And my husband and I have given up bread and only occasionally have some pasta. But if we have pasta we have a good quality sauce and lots of cheese.

I cannot always afford the organic veggies but I am shifting more in that direction and trying to work out ways to make it affordable. Hugs Marlene

I had read about the ACV killing bacteria in the UT, but I had the lemon juice so ... I combined them and now I don't know which is doing it but just thankful as it has worked for me; I drink it when I first feel the symptoms ... what a Godsend, huh? I wasn't the first to know about it as someone, somewhere, had posted about the ACV and I'm always reading and learning hopefully but the really good stuff STICKS, so I have a selective memory lol

I’ve had UTI’s forever and now I have to take a preventative called Hipres. It’s an antibacterial. One of these morning and night. But before I went on them I use to find I could sometimes ward of a full blown bladder infection by taking lots of mega cranberry tabs. And I mean lots of them, all in one day. Like about 2 mega cranberry cap x 5 times a day. Sometimes it worked. Now it doesn’t!

So sorry to hear that; if I could just make myself drink more water I wouldn't get them so often. A big part of why we get them is when all the estrogen is taken from our system. I was hoping since I will soon turn 70, that my old defunct ovaries would quit pumping it out but then I read that after 70 they start making testosterone which is why we get so much hair thinning in places and growing in other places that it shouldn't (my guess anyway); anyway, the horrible news I read is that the testosterone is turned into E1 ... EEEEEEEEK ... I just want to have them REMOVED and am thinking seriously of trying to have that done!

I am on the MPN forum but found your post + am sending you a huge thank you - UTIs (+ inevitable antibiotics) have become a very unwelcome issue over the last few years but this weekend spaced 3 goes with the apple cider vinegar + lemon + it (fingers crossed) cleared it without the need for more pills - thanks again Anne-Marie.
