I recently read that patients shouldn’t be on both an AI and Faslodex. Sorry I didn’t bookmark it.
I’m currently on both, plus ribociclib.
what about any of you ?

I don’t know but think it would be unusual to have both AI and faslodex - usually one follows the other. they do act in slightly different ways but suggest go back and ask your team.
A quick search yielded evidence of a SWOG clinical trial using this combination and evidence that it is being used in clinical practice. I wasn't aware of it before you're question. I don't know if this is your first line of treatment? My guessing that it is and your oncologist probably believes based on research that this is your best option progression free survival as well as overall survival. Thanks for telling us about it. Let us know what your doctor says.

Hi Diana, I am in Ireland, and am on letrozole, palbo and monthly faslodex. If you happen to come across the article you mention again, I would appreciate if you cld forward the link, thank you K
I've been on Arimadex and Faslodex for almost 10 years with no progression. I'm thinking it works well! 🙂
Gee and so long! I’m wondering how most of us have never heard of this combo before. Are you in the US?!
I am in the US. The reason I've been on it so long and many have never heard of this is because it's so "old timey." Ibrance/Palbo was FDA approved about 2-3 years into my MBC journey. When I asked my doc about going on it, his response was "when you're in a horse race riding the winning horse, you don't get off and change horses." Wonderful wisdom as I now consider that that's in my back pocket still as an option for when things progress. They will progress. Grrr. But, I've been enjoying the ride and am greatful that I've been so fortunate for it to have lasted so long. I am an outlyer that way.
Strangely my doctor mentioned it as a possibility to add it (in response to me questioning being back on Tamoxifen now -from years earlier), but added “it’s never been done before”. How wrong she was!
I’m so surprised to find 3 of you here who are having the combo!!
I was switched to Faslodex last year after being on Letrozole for 6 years. The reason was due to a recurrence. When I asked my onc whether I should be on an AI as well, she told me it didn’t add anything. The AI’s turn off the last bit if estrogen produced in the skin after menopause. Faslodex degrades the estrogen receptor, so it can’t be used. I liked being able to change treatment to Faslodex after the AI stopped working.
Hi, Diana! Which AI are you taking? Also any side effects from Ribociclib? I'm currently on Ribo and anastrozole. God bless you! XXOO Linda
