I’m dx with bone Mets in spine, pelvis, femur, humerus and sternum.
when I move my arms in certain positions, I get pain around the inside of the scapula area. I’m wondering if it is really spinal pain that I’m feeling. Sometimes it hurts more on one side.
sometimes heat helps but other times ice.

I'd call my onc's office tomorrow morning if I were you. I'm a long timer with "extensive" bone mets in spine, pelvis, rib and scapula when first diagnosed with bc 19 years ago. Of course we all have a somewhat different bunch of cancer cells, but those of us with bone mets only tend to do well for quite awhile. One of the rules I made for myself early on was that if I even think of calling my doctor, I do it. Same with going to the ER! I figure we don't have alot of wiggle room! I'm sorry you are having this pain. It could be something other than cancer, maybe arthritis. Let us know what you mfind out. Sending cyber hugs, love, and prayers................ Pam
I'd think it could be pain from a number of things so you really need to get it assessed. If it does turn out to be mets-related it could possibly be anything from referrred pain from somewhere else humerus (maybe?) scapula, rib or spine. The action that causes the pain should help them determine what's most likely. Worth looking into, and before it might get worse, because it may be a spot that they can apply some rads to decrease/stop the pain if it is mets. Hopefully you can get an an answer soon via your doctor. Hugs

I developed scapular pain on the right. Since I had spinal mets, with a site right near that scapula, I told my doctor right away and she decided that a radiation treatment was justified, though I was on chemo and had only had cybersurgical radiation on some tiny brain tumors.
The radiation doctor was very clear on the procedure and told me I might have some pain immediately afterward that would possibly be worse than what I was having then. But he was correct that it faded quickly and the area has been stable and free of any progression ever since. Definitely worth the temporary discomfort and I've been free of pain since then.
I do have a radiation oncologist appointment on Monday to discuss options. Thanks for the input. I’ll keep you updated.

My onco thought the pain was from connective tissues, like muscles, pulling on the spine/bones causing the pain. Plus, a result of the new Faslodex injections working.
