Med change

Hi everyone, so it looks like I’m up for another med change. ( second one in 2 months 😳). My question is will I have to wait to get first med out of my system before starting the next one? I’m concerned that the cancer will grow if I’m not on anything. Just wondering what everyone’s experience has been. I was on Everolimus and Exemestane no idea what I will be switching to. Will find out tomorrow. Thanks for your help. Carla

You won't need to wait to get old med out of system. And don't worry about short breaks. I had to have a break of 6 weeks between treatments for a combination of reasons but 4 weeks into new treatment the cancer is responding already. Good luck!

Hi

Sorry to hear of your anxiety. I think it will depend on how the last medication affected your system...In my case I had to clear my system of all meds for a few months as the Kisqali had overloaded my liver function. I had to wait for the enzymes to return to normal range before switching to the replacement.

I had scans after the drug free period and there was absolutely no progression in any way. I've now been on the same treament programme for over a year and a half and have remained stable...I have extensive bone mets from skull to pelvis and all torso bones in-between.

Try not to worry...most of our treatments are standardised now and for the doctors they've become routine....so I think they know what to do in this scenario.

Good luck, and best wishes
