Unrelenting pain post chemo dose

Hi, 3 years post mbc diagnosis And my scan in December showed progression in both my liver and lungs. There is no spread into my bones. Commenced on 3 weekly epirubicin and cyclophosphamide. I'm on my 2nd cycle but during the 2 cycles I have the most horrendous, unrelenting pain in my upper back area which is also very tender. I have 15mg slow release morphine and more for breakthrough but despite this the pain continues. At the end of my tether. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I have not experienced severe pain like you describe. I just want to offer my support in a virtual hug. I hope you feel better soon. Perhaps a long lasting pain patch such as fentanyl may help. Do you have a palliative care doctor on your team? I hear they are usually pretty helpful with intractable pain. I’m sure one of our knowledgeable sisters will pipe up soon with great advice until then I will be thinking of you.

Thank you Kate, it's nice to know there's lovely people out there who care. I'll speak to my team when I see them next. Xx

I'm so sorry that you are experiencing so much pain. I hope that your doctors can help you find the relief you are searching for, either with medications or perhaps something like acupuncture. In the meantime, I am sending you some hugs and prayers.

Following Kateds, Cazdf and love2golfwell, I am adding my commiserations, moral support and prayers that your doctor helps you get rid of the severe pain. I wish that no one should have to bear the pain that so many MBCer's do endure.

I'm also sending a virtual hug as well as visualization that your pain will recede. My chemo was in the 90s when my 1st breast cancer appeared - so much has changed since. Then 27 yrs later cancer in both and mastectomy. The pain from that continued off and on for almost a year. Then 3rd recurrence in armpit - also considered breast cancer. Radiation only. Never had the type of pain you describe. Thanks for sharing with all of us and hope someone has experienced similar pain and can help. Hang in there!!!

Add me to the caring group sending you love and offering caring support! Don't wait to contact your onc team to let them know that you need better pain control! I don't know if this would help you, but I've found OTC lidocaine patches to help alot for the occasional pain I get in my lower back. My husband has learned just where to put them--I don't think I could do it alone! This stupid cancer sure comes with alot of symptoms and side effects that can ruin our day!
