A beautiful Buddhist prayer

Dear ladies and gentlemen: I got an email this morning with this beautiful prayer and wanted to share it with all of you. Sending hugs.

Here is a Buddhist prayer for love and compassion that embodies Thich Nhat Hanh's words.

The Nine Prayers

May I be peaceful, happy, and light in body and spirit.May I be free from injury. May I live in safety.May I be free from disturbance, fear, anxiety, and worry.May I learn to look at myself with the eyes of understanding and love.May I be able to recognize and touch the seeds of joy and happiness in myself.May I learn to identify and see the sources of anger, craving, and delusion in myself.May I know how to nourish the seeds of joy in myself every day.May I be able to live fresh, solid, and free.May I be free from attachment and aversion, but not be indifferent.

I loved Thich Nhat Hahn! He lived a long life and made Buddhism accessible to Westerners. It was sad when he died, but he’d lived a looong life. Your post looks a bit like a metta meditation practice. These always brings merit. The Buddhists believe that illness, especially life threatening illness, can be a doorway to spiritual awakening. Thank so much for posting a reminder about the path!
