As deafening as this

“She Lied”

my body lets me know when I’ve had too much sugar

by kindly presenting bumps on the surface of my face

my body sounds the alarm bells when I have too much to drink

turning my belly, pounding my head and blurring my vision

but my body was silent, peaceful, even tranquil

when the cancer cells were invading

she didn’t raise the red flag, sound the alarm bells or even let out a noise

she simply slept soundly

how can I trust her

true enough!! The body is too much of a mystery for me. I like the black and white. The cause and effect. Sadly, we don’t always get what we want 🫤

Guess we still need to appreciate and love our body for all the great things it’s doing for us! :)

Mine did but unfortunately the warning signs were not recognised. They seemed unrelated to the actual cause. X

I got a letter in the mail that it was time to have a mammogram but I figured I could wait a year due to Covid. :(
