Piqray withdrawal
I have not taken Piqray, although it is on my list of possibles because I have the P13K mutation. Interestingly, I switched from Ibrance to Verzenio this month, and had 2 weeks off time in between switching and felt very sick the second week off before starting Verzenio. Someone asked me if I was having withdrawal symptoms from being off Ibrance. Honestly, I couldn't say, but started to feel much better very quickly once I started Verzenio. My sister asked if I could be having a Herx reaction while off the meds waiting to switch. I read up on it, and it makes sense.....when we stop taking a medication that alters the immune system, and then stop the medication, our immune system starts to rev up and starts working and that in itself seems like it would cause a "withdrawal" type feeling. At least, that was my take on Herx reactions..... I'm not a doctor, and this is all just guessing on my part. I hope you find your answer!!
I lasted on Verzenio and falsodex for 3 and 1/2 years and I was on the smallest dose of Verzenio which was 50 mg. She started me on the Ibrance but I was so so sick on my week off and I could not deal with it. I love the Verzenio. I felt almost normal. Now on tamoxifen and Everolimus and I feel very nauseous on it. I am also alone 24/7 but I am not one to get an aide (although I would qualify). I feel like mentally I am done.
I agree with you about Verzenio vs. Ibrance. I was very sick on my weeks off of Ibrance and had very low WBC and RBC counts, it was pretty miserable. I'm on 150 mg Verzenio now and switching to Fulvestrant from Letrozole in 27 days. If the Fulvestrant doesn't work it's magic, then I'm going to have to change treatments, bah!! Hold on tight dear fighter, new meds are soon coming our way!! SERDS should be approved within the next few months, and I've heard really good things about them! A CDK 7 inhibitor is in the pipelines and it supposedly works better than the CDK 4/6 inhibitors and has less side effects. ERSo and ERX-41 are going into human trials early next year and are touted for curing metastatic breast cancer. Being alone does not help. Because of Covid, I am alone with my husband (believe it or not even with one companion it gets so lonely!), and I only see my daughters, their hubbies and grands outdoors. I haven't been able to see my sister or best friends going on over 2 1/2 years, I'm not completely alone, but I do understand what you mean. But like I said, hold on, better meds are coming and possibly a cure, imagine that?! A cure!! It's historical if it happens! I hope that you find some sunshine and good things in your life and that your side effects diminish with time!! Take care!
Makes sense that we would have withdrawal symptoms of some sort being two weeks off these heavy duty drugs. I have not taken Piqray, I am on Verzenio now. I had only one reaction to a drug and that was Xeloda but others tolerate it very well. So we are all different.
Cheers June S.
I am on Piqray and had to stop for 5 days due to skin issues. I did not experience any withdrawal symptoms. I am in a Piqray group on Facebook. Members on that site have said they experienced flu-like symptoms when coming off the drug. If I recall, they said it only lasted a couple of days. Piqray has been a much harder drug for me than Ibrance ever was. I wish you well and pray that you can transition off the drug with no withdrawal symptoms.
Hi , I am on Piqray and Fulvestrant. My friend also was on Piqray and did quite well on it.
She told me to take a 10mg Zyrtec pill one hour before taking Piqray and that's what I do .I make sure to take Piqray with food otherwise it upsets my stomach . I take it in the afternoon as at night it will upset my stomach .
I am doing quite well on both the Piqray and Fulvestrant combo.
No problem with rashes.Ask your doctor to see if this would be good for you .
It has been shrinking my tumors in my breast . Best of luck to you, Faun .
Not sure about Piqray but I stopped taking Verzenio which I did for three years straight and no withdrawal symptoms at all.
