Piqray causing kidney failure

Has anyone been taken off Piqray because it caused kidney failure? If so, what drug did your Oncologist prescribe? Or did you do chemo? Thank you

Hi ladies, I went off Piqray after a few months because it made me so sick and weak I couldn’t eat and ended up in a wheelchair because I lost 31 pounds and my body was to weak to even stand up, the smell of food made me sick even, couldn’t hold anything down ect ect, advised my Oncologist to take me off it because it wasn’t the Cancer that would take my life sooner it was the Piqray treatment I was on making me even sicker , next my Oncologist put me on 150 mg of Ibrance with Fulvestrant injections and Xgeva injections, he has since reduced the Ibrance from 150 mg to 100 mg and currently now to the lowest mg dosage they have which is 75 mg, Ibrance causes very low WBC , last act scan a tumor was spotted in my left lung , not sure yet if the 75mg is working for me till I get next Ct scan’s, there is also a sister drug called Verzenio, the Mayo Clinic suggested, but I here this can be like taking the Piqray drug my Oncologist told me, hard on your stomach, or at least , my stomach, my Oncologist said my next option would be a chemo pill they have out on the market to try if the Ibrance quits working, so time will tell , good luck , prayers for all who read this !

Hi , I too had the same experience with piqray-lost 37 lbs. so sick!!! Aster having my spine replaced because of many tumors destroying bone, I went on Ibrance then got tumor in my pelvis caused fracture, just finished radiation feeling better, my insurance won't approve Verzenio. So I dont know what's next - My Prayers to you!!

Wow, sounds like you are really going through a rough patch right now, I can relate to the Piqray, didn’t do well on it , all we can do is take it one day at a time and keep living, life can be beautiful, prayers for you and hope things turn around in a positive stage for you soon , take care !

I was on Ibrance for 4 months and it stopped working. I have been on Piqray for 2 years.

Wow, glad you are able to take Piqray, It made me so sick I couldn’t eat hardly at all , take care and prayers to you that you and the rest on here live on !

I’ll be curious to see what people say. My kidney health indicators aren’t critical yet. My back has been itching terribly, but my dermatologist doesn’t think it’s kidney failure. I should be glad….but this darned itching is driving me nuts. Maybe it’s a side effect of Piqray?

Piqray has definitely created skin issues for me. I use hydrocortisone on the small patches of eczema and apply Cetaphil advanced relief lotion daily.

As for kidney function, so far so good. I know that Piqray in addition to metformin is hard on the kidneys. I hope your docs can figure things out. Hang in there.

Thanks. Good to know I’m not alone. Piqray often causes rashes… I hadn’t heard of this! The dermatologist at the cancer center has tried several things. Nothing seems to work. I can deal with the cancer (which I can’t feel). This itching is agony!

I'm on fulvestrant and Piqray. I take 10mg of Zyrtec one hour before I take the Piqray(300 mg).

I don't have itchiness most of the time due to this . Sometimes I have a slight itchiness on my back , but hardly any.

I take the Piqray with food in the afternoon as it's easier on my stomach. Ask your doctor about taking the Zyrtec as my friend was also on the Piqray and told me about the Zyrtec .

I am doing well on this combination. My tumors are shrinking. I find high dose vitamin C IV drips( 25k to 50k ) and b complex vitamins help to keep my immine system up.
