Targeted drugs seem to be the most often prescribed intervention for those of us with ER+ HER2- metastasized breast cancer. Research is even being done to develop a form of palbociclib to use as adjuvant therapy in early BC. However, it seems there remains much to learn about when, and for whom, targeted drugs should be prescribed. The NCI has a useful article for us laypersons on this topic:

Interested in targeted drugs? Here's some basic information
Wow!! What a wealth of information (and that's based on only a scan, will read fully once fully caffeinated!!).
I especially liked the part about how they work...helped me understand not only the meds but *why* some other things I do might help (e.g. fasting promotes apoptosis...it's listed as a benefit of some targeted therapies).
I saved the post *and* added the link to my notes...Thank you so much for sharing!!
Interesting, thanks for the link.Especially noted the bit how certain symptoms can indicate a positive outcome….think that’s what my oncologist meant when I had elevated liver enzymes with Kisqali….she said “it’s obviously working…May be too well”
hi Cindy.interesting....lots of info! there is a definite learning curve with all these 'targeted' meds along with the genomic 'testing'. but like with anything else, it takes time to learn and absorb. i will say i know much more than i did even one week ago....still have a long way to go but have to start somewhere!
thanks for sharing this article👍....very helpful.
hugs...
