Dealing with neuropathy in fingernails

Even if my fingernails are no longer brittle, it is still painful to use them.

To open a pop-top can I use the bowl of a spoon.

To open a shaker with a flip lid, I use a plastic (invalid) charge or customer loyalty card.

I also use the card for the tiny switch on the bottom of an electric candle or snow globe.

Also to open the battery chamber for those kinds of things.

Also to scrape the label off a container so I can use it for other purposes.

You are very resourceful. Made me think of my husband - if that happened he would constantly be asking me to do everything!!My nails are so soft they tear off so easily. We are moving house and the ends of my fingers are so tender now from packing boxes. Luckily I won’t have to unpack much the other end because we will be in temporary accommodation.

I also use a basic "key" bottle/can opener, for lifting the lid on home-canned foods or even plastic containers.

I use "needle nose" pliers to open anything that needs to be peeled back, such as the paper or foil lid on yogurt, hot cocoa mix, etc.
