Can you continue medication if you get covid

I have Covid in the house but tested negative myself. Likely to be omicron. Have others who’ve had it come off medication? I’m on letrozole and palbociclib. With 12 weekly Xgeva. Have only been on it for 4 months.

I think if you show any symptoms or test positive you should telephone your chemo triage team and ask them what to do. Fingers crossed you don't catch it!

Hi and welcome on here ! Sorry someone in the home has Covid . Keep doing the free daily lateral flow tests (do swab throat and nose for more accurate early results). If you get a positive result , book a free PCR test on gov.uk . If you then were to test positive on PCR , antiviral medication is being offered to those most vulnerable . One of our British ladies on here

has already had the antiviral treatment . If you do test positive, you would probably need to come off the Ibrance (but continue Letrozole) to fight the infection, unless it was to fall on your week off Ibrance . But do let your oncology dept know (and your GP) if test positive for Covid , so that they can advise you.

I have been on the same medication as you are on for four years now (I am also in the UK), and I hope you continue to tolerate it and do well on it . I did take an extra week off Ibrance early on to have a surgery , so the odd week off isn’t a big issue , but do speak to either your breast care nurse or oncology dept . Take care! x

Hi there. I tested positive in December 2020 and had only started treatment the month before. I had to stop Palbociclib which I also stopped when my ovaries were subsequently removed. I have still had (so far) a metabolic complete response. I was actually far, far worse a month ago when I caught the cold that was doing the rounds! Hopefully you will be OK🤞🏼

Hi! When I had IT in March 2020, I was off Ibrance while I was sick. Note that I was never so sick that I needed to be hospitalized and at that point I think it was a tougher illness than the Omicron version.

Thank you for this. Very heartening that those who go before me survive the virus!

Here is something else interesting. I had IT in March 2020 when people could not get tested unless they could not breathe. We figured out that I definitely had it when I had strong antibodies in May. They were there in Nov as well as I had some surgery and wanted to check before I did. Were gone in Jan. In April and May I got the two-part Moderna shot. Have not has the booster and since I have a PET in late Jan and a shot should be 6 weeks before that I was holding off. My reg GP said let's run an antibodies test. Came back high again....so now 8 months after my second shot still strong enough to not NEED the booster now. Do not get me started on how all of this testing from testing those who are sick to those who need a booster is not really accurate. We have a vaccine, but the testing models are not as good as they should be and here in the States the CDC seems to pull their thoughts out of mid-air!
