Hot tub

Am off to visit my brother soon after nearly two years. He has a hot tub and I've usually joined them for a morning soak. But I think I read something on here about it not being a good idea. I know he does everything recommended to keep it clean and healthy. Any advice please.

I guess my opinion is if your white and neutrophils are strong enough, you will probably be just fine. Problem is what do others have they don't know they have

It will be just my brother and his husband, I can discuss with him!. Thanks.

I have heard that breast cancer or cancer patients with tumors should not get in very hot water should be just barely comfortable because the heat can cause lymphademia. You might want to go to their sight and see what they have to say about it. I have not gotten in a hot tub or water above warm since I was diagnosed with stage 1 in 2000. This includes tanning beds too. Cancer patients are very susceptible to lymphademia even when bring careful. Take care and best wishes. Blessings, Hannah

In that case I'll ask my lymphodema therapist, he's pretty knowledgeable. X

He will be the perfect one to ask. Good 🤞. Blessings, Hannah

When 10 years ago I had breast cancer the first time, I was told to avoid insect bites in the arm where lymph nodes removed as well as water 102 degrees and above. Both apparently can cause lymphedema. I’ve used hot tubs since and try to keto the temperature below the 102. Never had any problem.

After I had breast cancer 27 years ago I got on with life as normal. I did have lymphodema and until last year wore a sleeve. I used hot tubs and jacuzzis all over the place. With MBC I thought it might be the infection risk. My brother is a chemist and runs his by the book, so if cleanliness is the main issue I'm sure I'll be ok.

You’re a long hauler! Though it may seem strange to congratulate someone for having cancer for so long, you are certainly an inspiration to those who are new to this dark business. I was first diagnosed in 2003…and thought I had beaten it. hah, I guess if you live long enough it will come back at some point…? It’s been 18 years now … 16 months since the MBC dx but I would be happy with another ten. Ladies, you are all heroes in my book.

Well the secret was they told me if I was clear for two years I was cured. And I believed them! So my mindset was that of a survivor! Later I discovered that if you've had to have chemo there's always a risk as it's escaped the original site. Ignorance is bliss, but I always had that black cloud lurking when I had a pain or lump. Funnily enough the MBC diagnosis came out of the blue after a variety of symptoms I would never have attributed to a relapse. It made me live life to the full, I always said I was grateful for the kick it gave me. Xx

I was told no hot tubs unless its my own. I actually went out n bought an inflatable 1 that I put sea salt in because it supposedly helps alkalinity which supposedly helps cancer. I change the water every week because I'm so afraid of any sort of bacteria or germs. I would ask your Dr 1st maybe they will approve

We have a hot tub and I go in it almost every day after my workout. My grandkids go in with us often in the evening. This is the first I've heard of not going in a hot tub. I guess I should look into it!!

Hi

I am lucky enough to own a hot tub. I purchased it 3 1/2 years ago just after receiving my MBC diagnosis. I’ve used it nearly every day. I’m the only one who uses it and I don’t have the water too hot.

I absolutely love it and it gives me 30 minutes thinking/me time each day.

We bought a hot tub 4 years ago. I did ask my Oncologist as I read something on the site too. He said no problem. My hubby tests and changes the water regularly so no problems. We gave it at 103. Have a lovely visit. Chris

We have a hot tub and when I asked about using it my onc said it was fine. It's great for stiff joints!

I love a hot tub , bath and hot shower , that brings such relief from stiffness and I put a few squirts of skin softener . Feels great . I’ve given up so much I’m not giving up my baths. I am not a static and spread to my bones I need my baths. I never mentioned it to my oncologist so I’m going to on Tuesday though. Thanks for the thoughts I hope he doesn’t say it’s bad.

I bought a hot tub a few years ago. Used it nearly every night for 2 years. Then... I just found it was way too hard form me to look after it. I have given it away. But gosh I miss it. It made me feel alive when I had one. It was a lasts 40 deg Celsius. Beautiful. Enjoy.
