Not sure what to think!

Well I had my first face 2 face oncology appt today, since diagnosis 18 months ago. I saw a member of the team who needed to refer to the consultant. I'm actually feeling very well, even better having had my two weeks in Scotland. And I really haven't had any nasty side effects from ibrance and letrozole.

Firstly there was mention of progression and an area of 4 cm the radiologist had seen on the scan behind the sternum. The doctor needed to discuss with the consultant re continuing same meds and starting the zoledronic acid treatment. I sat in the waiting room for 30 mins, thinking this is the beginning of the end and I'd best tell my new partner to go and find someone more healthy.

I was then called back, to say that having compared with my earlier scans and given my bloods showed continued decrease in tumour markers that the area may be from the initial metasteces and not a new area. My lungs and liver are clear and my bones are stable. So it's all systems go and I might even get three months meds.

So I came away feeling pleased but with reservations which won't be resolved until they redo my scans in three months. I wish they'd got their heads together before talking to me and scaring the hell out if me to start with.

I think others on here have been less than pleased with East Surrey hospital!

Just my thoughts. I think your oncology team have made a good decision to continue on the same meds. All to often meds are changed before necessary. I am not a medical person, just my gut feeling. Also, if you have doubts as to your treatment it always good to get a second opinion if possible. Or call your National Cancer center for answers. \

Thank you. It was the fact that they scared me first, then backtracked!

Sorry Beryl. I missed addressing your upset! Thinking you were at the end of your life!! Eh gads. I think we have all experienced this. I know I have. Truth is there are a lot meds and treatments ahead for you to try. Don't worry about progression. Many times it is just a small progression and not too serious. I mean they are measuring in cm.s. Very small.

Cheers, June S.

We certainly don't need anymore stress. Sorry you had to go through that Rollercoaster, but the outcome sounds good! Happy for you.

That’s a scary roller coaster ride they put you through. I’m sorry

So glad to hear that your treatment won’t change. Those scans should’ve been compared before your appointment. There is no reason to scare the 💩 out of you and make you wait 30 minutes, (can only imagine the thoughts that were going through your head), -how frustrating! So happy that you are staying on your current treatment!

Sister/warrior I am sorry to hear your Oncologist was tardy in reading your results in a timely manner, but I am thanking GOD, and happy to hear you are stable.😇
