I am on Ibrance and Fasolax and have short hair that is REALLY thinning and looking like a punk rocker at 75š has anyone gone ahead and shaved thier hair , and if so did it start growing back, or if thinning did that eventually stop? Hairdresser is having a hard time hiding the effects, so at times I think, just shave it and wear a turban or hat....

Shaved hair?
I shaved it. It did come back. I got lots of cute little caps. Google Muslim womenās clothing site. They have lots of lovely caps in different colors and theyāre very inexpensive. My hair initially came back gray and now the roots are coming in black. I donāt know whatās going on. Iām 78 so gray hair is not unexpected. Black was not my original color. So confusing.
My hair is really short, too, and has thinned quite a bit on Ibrance and Letrozole and is difficult to style the way I want. I purchased two wigs, one fun synthetic pixie cut one from Wigs.com and one hybrid one (part human, part synthetic) that is a bit longer. I wear them when I go out (even to the doctor's office) as they make me feel pretty.
Not sure how long you've been on Ibrance. I've always worn my hair verrrry short and during first couple months on Ibrance, hair thinned quite a bit (and was thin to begin). It did slow down and wasn't nearly as bad - what I'd considered normal aging thinning. I have considered wigs but hanging with my own for now. I'm also 75.

Thanks Marion. I dont think I'd feel comfortable with a wig, but those turbans and head scarfs look nice. I'll give it a few more months, but not only is my hair thinning, the texture has changed and the hair on the top of my head is the worst. Like Bozo the clownš¤£ just dont want my hair to be one more thing to worry about, but seems it has become that way !! Thanks for the reply.
I have chosen to shave mine and wear a wig! My hair was so thin and dead looking that I could not handle it. I look much healthier wearing my wig...
My sister shaved hers. It never came back. She had rather just embrace it and not wear the caps, etc. except in the winter.
My hair thinned when I began the Ibrancce/Letrozole combination but now it seems to be back to normal. I did not shave it, but I keep my hair short.
I've not had to make that decision, but something I have noticed is that alot more women are going out with their baldness showing than when I was first diagnosed in 2004. My hairdresser has experience with cancer and has offered to shave my head for me right after closing time, if and when I need it. Her husband has been living with cancer for a long time, too. I think I would rather shave my head, or have her do it, than leave it very thin, but I can't know for sure.........
I've been on the same dose of Ibrance and Letrozole for close to 4 years. I'm 63, my hair continues to thin every year at a slow pace.
What I have noticed when I went into the 3rd year was my hair is not growing.
I don't like the feel of wigs, so for now until I decide what type of short hair cut I want I wear scarfs.
I may gradually go to a pixie when I fine a hairdresser I trust.
For now, I haven't found that stylist.
Personally, I will never shave my hair due to the fact it's not really growing.
I don't want to be in a situation where being bald is not a choice.
FYI, I'm pretty much at home 95% of the time, so for now, it's not a challenge.
Hope that helps.
Anytime, you can message me too!
It may be a good idea to just keep what you have and get some headcoverings. Some women report that thinning is temporary.
Hi,Iām on faslodex and my hair continues to fall out. I cut it very short. It is very hard to handle mentally for me. When I lost all of my hair the first time I wore hats. They worked well! I hated wigs. They hurt my head. Good luck with your hair. Iām going to try some biotin supplements. Hugs, Susie
Hi, I have been on ibrance and letrozole for 3 and a quarter years, hurrah. But, my hair started thinning after 3 months. I have had my hair cut short but there are 2 very thin areas on top and left side. My hair has thickened slightly since going to 75mg but I continue to wear my wig when out as it gives me confidence. I sometimes leave it off if pottering around at home. My wig is partly grey and has been trimmed by my hairdresser so looks very natural. I am 81 so shouldn't be so vain!?! Fay.
Hi Fay. Being vain at 81 is definitely warranted I've appreciated all the feedback, and think before I shave all my hair I am going to try some scarfs, turbans and wigs. Besides I live in snow country and may be a little too cold without hair on my head!! I am working as a Program Manager, and Case Manager of a Homeless Transition Center for families, and see people every day, so the bald may be a little extreme for all the clients Thanks again for the reply.
How long have you been on Ibrance combo before your hair started thinning. ? Thanks
On Ibrance and Faslodex my hair has thinned dramatically and stopped growing. Iāve been wearing beautiful Grey wigs - and get a lot of compliments on my thick grey/white hair. Itās a boost to my confidence to be out in the world looking ānormalā and no conversations about cancer. I found an excellent wig supplier in Godiva and their wigs are comfy and tres chic! With all the upheaval and discomfort of MBC looking fabulous helps overcome so much! Itās not vanity! Itās a survival and thriving strategy!
I found the Godiva Secret Wig site by googling Godiva......great looking wigs plus the site is quite different than other wig sites I've found. If I ever do lose my hair, I'm definitely going to get one of their wigs! They are pricier than other wig sites--about $179.99 and up but do look worth spending the money and they h ave videos about how to put wigs on and other info I'd need. I think I will ask my hairdresser to help me pick one if I need one. She's the best!
