Tonight we can see Jupiter and Saturn in the sky with our Star Gazer app. It’s so beautiful. Like a guiding light. I’ve never felt so relaxed after the awful month I’ve had. The break away so far is lifting me no end. Thank you for the birthday wishes. They look like really bright stars in the sky.

Cheryl sending you lots of birthday wishes and hope your break away continues to be restful. I love star gazing too!
It’s such a wonderful thing to do. I’m glad you enjoy it. Best wishes
Wow! That is so beautiful. Thank you. Marlene
Hi Sandra, I’m just holding my breath waiting for an MRI in two weeks to see if I need radiotherapy on my spine, which I suspect I will. It makes logistical planning tricky. I’m managing with paracetamol so all is okay, thank you. In the meantime I have been getting on with things in Budapest now things are “back to normal”. It has been a year since we moved here and I am just starting to “get out there” and meet new people! I’ve been to a classical concert in the beautiful St Matthias church, seen the news James Bond movie “No Time To Die” and this weekend went to a countryside winery for wine tasting. On my new meds everything tastes like cardboard and wine tastes like vinegar so I sniffed instead!😉 All these things have been good for the soul and worth the (low) Covid risk. 🤞I hadn’t realised how much I missed all these things. Star gazing for Cheryl on her break away is also so good for the soul. And I’d add e-biking to that list too Sandra.
It’s good to see you enjoying some normality of life in Hungary Vicki ! We are looking forward to seeing the new Bond movie too...just will choose a quieter time of day to go ! Still very cautious here as numbers of Covid cases are on the rise since children went back to school . Wish you well with the MRI ! Take care! x
Thank you Lesh, and for the Covid warning. I’m trying to negotiate with my GP to have my third Covid jab while I’m in the U.K. but so far “the computer says no”. I’ve sent an email explaining I am more exposed than most clinically extremely vulnerable people as I travel back monthly for cancer treatment. It will have been six months since my last one so I qualify. Square peg, round hole!
I hope you are well. x
As you are over 50 and as long as six months have passed since your last one you should be able to have the booster jab now , by booking online . My husband and I both had our Covid booster at a large vaccination centre at the weekend , and we also had the free flu jab at Boots the chemist yesterday (booked online). There is a third vaccine for people with a weakened immune system planned (in addition to the booster jab) but I’m not sure who will get this one (NHS will be contacting those eligible).
Thanks for sending the useful link. Were you and your husband invited to book on-line? My GP surgery said I need to wait for a text asking me to book and that they are currently inviting people who had their last jab two months before me. I would have mine earlier but was stranded in Hungary at the time. Given my commute for treatment I’d really like to get the booster as soon as I can.
My husband got a text to book his and I just went online to book mine , as I had my jabs before him ! Then I got my text a few days later ! I think as long as it’s 6 months since your last one you should be able to book online . Maybe your area has a backlog ?! Hope you get sorted soon tho’ ! I had the Pfizer booster ( had Astra Zeneca for the first two covid jabs )
I’m good thank you . Just had a bit of an achy arm for a couple of days from jabs but bloods ok to continue on my meds . I go to London with husband tomorrow for a few days and hope to get out for lots of autumn walks and a cycle in the Royal Parks . x 🍁🍂
You are in Budapest! Wow! Good to know covid restrictions are less there!
I’m exactly the same. I love green veg and beetroot. It tastes so bitter. My favourite Assam tea tastes of nothing now and I have given up on wine as it has such an awful metallic taste. The literature with my meds stated once you finish treatment the problem will go away…….WHAT……as far as I’m aware I’m on it till it stopes working, crazy printing that.Seems like you are enjoying your new abode. We have to be happy with who we are and where we are and it seems life is great (apart from MBC) for you.
Enjoy Vicki xx
Ah ha, must re-read that info. I’ve got some new side effects but today I realised that my very sore joints (caused by the Letrozole I was on previously) have improved - every cloud… 😊
Snow on the mountains, how beautiful. Hope you enjoyed that stunning ride todayClare
Shining brightly for your birthday. Are they still around tonight? I will have a look
Clare
What a cool photo, Cheryl. Thank you so much for sharing this. Hope your birthday was enjoyable and so happy you are feeling relaxed after a difficult time. Stay strong. Hugs
Sandra, I hear you! I’ve been in either lockdowns or shielding from March 2020 until this summer - way too long. Now it’s as though things are back to normal here but there is a fourth wave on its way. The difference here now is that, due to the successful vaccination programme, the link between infections and hospitalisation has been weakened if not broken. I have only just, in the last few weeks, started going into concert halls etc with others. It is a calculated risk and it has been so wholesome getting back into the world after so long, and with the clock ticking. No Time To Die was fun and very modern, I enjoyed it. Although I would enjoy the occasional wine during my week off while I was on Ibrance, it now tastes so bad it’s wasted on me. Hungary’s best kept secret is its excellent wines!Of course, I have regularly been “running the gauntlet” with flights backwards and forwards across Europe to access treatment. But every passenger needs a negative PCR test to fly and has to wear a mask. The filtration systems on aircrafts are the best as well.
But nothing can beat being in the fresh air of the Canadian mountains- I envy you that. I grew up in the shadows of the majestic NZ Southern Alps to the east and the untamed Tasman Sea to the west. We had the most beautiful sunsets in the world!
We are both lucky ladies, right!
My HU mail seems to come in very slowly. Just got this today. Great photo. Thanks for sharing . So glad you are feeling better and enjoying a nice restful getaway.
Cheers, June S.
Amazing photo! And I wish you the happiest of birthdays!
