Let’s inform our oncologists about ErSO

Hi wonderful people,

I think maybe it would help to ask our oncologists if they heard about ErSO and possible human trials. If they did not hear about it (most of them did not but some did) let’s inform them about it. They go to different conferences and meetings and may spread the news around. I am communicating with the Professor of pharmacology that develops mbc drugs. He is fully aware of ErSO and considers it a very promising compound. He said that no compound performed so successful in labs as ErSO did. He goes to the PA award luncheon today. He and promised me if he hears news about ErSO he will inform me right away. Let’s hope that it would be as successful on humans as it was on animals. Good luck to all of us!!!

Best,

Marina

I just opened it but I see the article about ErSO which I read in August when it came out. Do you see drugs in pipeline and new trials?

From the article…The success of Faslodex has prompted several biopharma companies to develop next-generation selective ER downregulators (SERDs). They include Sanofi, which is moving its drug, amcenestrant, into a phase 3 trial against tamoxifen after showing promising early results in combination with Pfizer’s CDK4/6 inhibitor Ibrance.

Roche is pairing its SERD drug, giredestrant, with Ibrance in the phase 3 persevERA trial. And Radius Health is working with Menarini on an oral SERD dubbed elacestrant. It expects phase 3 data from the EMERALD trial later this year.

Thanks for this info. I was on faslodex with ibrance but unfortunately it did not control my disease. I have faith in ErSO because it has a completely new mechanism of action. I would like to believe that it will be as successful on humans as it was on animals. Best,

Marina

Hi,My oncologist said yesterday she does not know about ERSO. She said they hear only after human clinical trial 3!

I hope and pray things will change soon.

Thanks for your good thoughts! Susie

Hi Susie,Thank you for contacting your oncologist. I am surprised that they do not know about it. I thought they should read some medical journals. My friend who is being treated in Memorial Sloan Kettering CC asked her oncologist. She did not know either but wrote it down and promised to do some research. She said she will inform her if she hears about clinical trials. I hope that it will change like you said. Now they sometimes approve promising drugs after stage 2 trial.

Let’s hope for cur! It’s time already!!!

The Bayer contact told me that they may seek for compassionate FDA approval after stage 1 if successful and accelerated FDA approval after stage 2 if successful. Let’s pray and hope that it will go to human trials and will show good results. Best?

Hello Marina 2 weeks ago the support group of the cancer institute I am going, organized a Zoom about research for MBC. The doctor who presented it talked about her research and said it is not going as fast as she wishes.

My oncologist was attending too and I asked them about ErSO. My onc said it was too soon and that humans are not mice... The day after I had an appointment with her and told her her comment made me feel low because I put all my hope in research. She answered she does not want give people false hope and even though the research looks promising it will take time before trials on humains start. Hopefully the Professor you are in touch with would have some optimistic news!

Have a good weekend

Hi Helen,It’s true that it’s too early. The compound is undergoing the preclinical trials and most oncologists haven’t even heard about it. They usually know about the fda approved drugs. On the other hand the researchers did hear about this compound. The professor I am communicating to said that it’s indeed the very promising compound because 99/100 % on mice is a very good result. He told me that ErSO is undergoing an uniform process. First in vitro(laboratory experiments) then in vivo(mice) they check the antitumor properties. Then on larger animals they check the toxicity. He developed another mbc drug but faced financial problems in moving it forward. This drug is supposed to work in conjunction with chemo. The fact that ErSO was licensed by Bayer a year before the research went into press, he considers a big success. Of course it has to be proven in humans. But I hope it will.

Best,

Marina

Helen,To make you feel better and still be hopeful please find the response from the professor that develops mbc drugs. He is trying to be realistic. I thought that the trials may start at the beginning of next year but it may take longer than that. He still believes that it’s a very promising compound. (see his answer below.)

I believe that the time frame and approval process may have changed now. And it also depends how the study is being funded. The fact that Bayer obtained the exclusive rights a year before the study was published gives hope. Also the contact there assured me that they are not shelving it but moving ahead.

“As mentioned earlier, the Company is proceeding with caution - but they are also trying to convey that it takes time to start a phase-I clinical trial - It is of course very hard if not impossible to predict, since we are not aware of the additional pre-clincial and toxicity data - but I would guess that between 8 to 12 months will pass before the Phase-I can begin. If this is true, this would still be one of the fastest process ever for moving a compund from the pre-clinical space into the clinic. “

Good luck to you and all of us!

Best,

Marina

Does anyone know if it will be an oral drug or an IV?

in reply toKellyonekanobe

It is not a drug yet, but a compound. Tested on mice and, how I understand it and hate, dogs. So likely diluted to be injected.

Cureforever in reply to

Hi,Based on the pharmacology professor that develops mbc drugs, it was going through a standard protocol. It was tested on mice for anti tumor effect and got 99/100% success which he believes no compound in the past has ever got. Then it was tested on larger animals such as rats and dogs for toxicity. Now Bayer is testing it I

On primates for toxicity as well. It may take time for it to go to human trials. I read that mice were given it orally and as an injection. I also read that the goal is to develop the oral drug. Let’s hope!!! Good luck to all of us!!!Marina

Hi Kelly, I believe an oral drug. This is what I read in the articles. They tried it on mice oral and infection but we’re leaning towards oral.

Let’s hope!!

Hello Sandra Thank you for your post. My husband is doing research (he is specialized in cardio vascular disease) and I see that in his lab getting good data (on mice) takes time so going to human trials for a drug it is a long process… anyway I trust my oncologist, she is the Chief of the Division on Oncology at the institute and a professor in the Department of Medicine at the University and I appreciate she is straightforward. It just feels good to have hope about a “cure”.

Yesterday I attended a webinar about immunotherapy for breast cancer. There are some clinical trials going on but the professor speaking said it was for TNBC.

At least it is good to hear that some research for MBC is going on even though I think it is not enough.

Have a nice weekend!

Yes, good luck to us all! I have asked my oncologist about the cancer vaccine that is based on the same technology as the Moderna Covid vaccine. It fact they were working on it before Covid. Not only had she heard of it, she told me that clinical trials are underway as we speak. So the science moves swiftly, even behind the curtains.

Cureforever profile image
Cureforever in reply toSMPG

Hi ,It’s a very good news. Thank you. I am not sure if this vaccine is developed how would it work. Will it work on mbc and eliminate Mets? Can you ask your oncologist please?

I understand that ErSO has a novel mechanism that eradicated all Mets in mice. Of course it has to be proven in humans but the mice study was very successful. Then the scientists tested toxicity on larger animals. I am not sure and I did not find any research of how the vaccine will work.

More hope for us

Marina

Yes, I will mention it to one of my oncologists next month. I won't be seeing my main Oncologist for 6 months but the guy that monitors my blood is also an oncologist and I will mention it to him. Bless you my dear for all the wonderful hope you are spreading through out our mbc community. We need to believe that we will heal and that we will get better. I believe in the power to heal ourselves along with the help of the work that the scientists and researchers are doing. Hugs Marlene

Hi Marlene,Thank you so much for your very nice words.

I do have faith in ErSO and believe that it will be the cure or a very effective treatment. I will inform you and everyone when I get more information from my contact at Bayer. We just all have to hope that it will pass the preclinical trials and will get to human ones soon. Watch the videos that are also posted on ErSO board.

Good luck to you and all of us!!!

Marina

Hi my lovely friends,I heard that some people and especially oncologists are skeptical about ErSO. They are saying “people are not mice”. I shared this saying with the pharmacology professor that develops mbc drugs and consults me about the ErSO. His response is below

Marina,

Next time, you could - very gently…😊 - point out to your

oncologist that most - if not all - the drugs they use in clinic now have been tested and found effective in mice first…

It sounds very encouraging. Let’s hope. We can’t win without hope!!!

Sandra, I respect your opinion a lot. This Professor of pharmacology created s different mbc drug I told you about it and you were aware of. Fx-68. He has no personal interest in this compound at all. He admitted to me that ErSO is much closer to human trials than his compound because of funding. His comment was addressed solely to me but I posted it just to give people hope. Why he replied like this … My friend went to MSC CS and showed all this research to her MO who had no idea about ErSO. She called me and was very upset after the comment her MO made. Then I wrote the comment to this professor who has nothing to do with this compound but finds it very novel and promising based on animals study. This was his answer. I also communicate with the contact in Bayer who does not give me much information and it’s understandable because it’s a public company. The latest he said was that more information is coming towards the end of the year. I checked the petition that Danny posted on this site and noticed that it grew tremendously.

I just keep my faith in ErSO and hope for cure. I was one of the least lucky people. I gave changed 5 lines of treatment over 2 years but I hope for the best. I was a very optimistic person before this diagnosis. I am learning to think positive in this situation….

Thank you again for all your messages and suggestions

Best,

Marina

Hi to all,I really would like to post my small contribution.

A lot of us are putting a lot of hopes in this new ErSO drug. I can't wait to see it happening.

Until then other trials should bring us new drugs to help us wait.

I've heard of a trial on an oral version of Faslodex which could be more effective as it's in an oral version - is anyone on this trial?

I've also heard of new SERD with the current CDK4-6 - anybody on these trials?

And also switching from from Ibrance to Versevio could be effective.

I read several articles on stopping CDK4-6 for a while and taking it again after. You could inmaging stopping Ibrance when progression, taking Xeloda to stabalize and then taking Versevio.

I believe there are lots of trials out there. Difficult to get the results.

As for ErSO, it would be the ultimate treatment/cure.

I think we shlould all have faith in this treament coming out.

I remember March 2020, COVID no vaccin and look at us today!

If ErSO is the major breakthrough it seems to be, it will soon be accessible.

Lovexxx

Lucie

Hi Lucie,Thank you so much for your very encouraging message. I have faith in ErSO and so do thousands of people like us. The petition to Bayer has more that 7000 signatures. You are right about the vaccine. Also Hiv was once incurable but not anymore. First they found a long lasting treatment, now the cure drug is in clinical trials. I communicate with the professor who developed another compound that it’s in preclinical testing now. He is very very optimistic about ErSO and even saying that it’s more promising than his future drug that will work in conjunction with chemo.

As for other issues you raise in your message, I would suggest you to post them as a separate post not as the thread to my post about ErSO. Just make a title such as Clinical trials for oral Faslodex and other inhibitors as one post. The second one post as a question. Can you stop targeted and hormonal therapy…go on …and then start. Then you will get replies.

My oncologist has that plan for me if it works I am no Xeloda now. She plans that it would stop the progression and then I may go on verzanio. I was on ibrance as the first line of treatment but then it stopped working. I have been on five lines over 2 years. I know that This research does exist. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer center sends a letter to patients saying that it’s possible to recycle treatments that stop working after a break. One lady,Sandra, also posted a research about Ibrance Holiday. You may find that article or contact her. Her screen is girlsptz

I hope ErSO will change it. The articles are naming it a game changer.

Good luck to you

Best,

Marina
