thread to list any services for women w BC that are free or low cost

Nocillo posted something yesterday that I didn’t know about, it was a program that Nordstrom has that fits women for prosthesis, and I think there’s also a helpful makeup thing they do too. I would link to it, but I couldn’t figure out how to 😂

I thought it would be useful to start a thread here for anyone that knows of helpful services for women like us with BC or going through treatments. Many of us can no longer work, or we have severely lessened schedules so it makes many things much more difficult to do.

I thought it would be a good idea to highlight any low cost or complimentary services that can help anyone going through treatment or that needs a little help.

In NY where I am there’s an amazing free service called Mondays with Racine. It was started specifically as a volunteer effort for women with Cancer who maybe didn’t feel as comfortable anymore at their regular salons (many places don’t always know what to do with our “new” hair, or lack of). Here’s their site, there may be many others in other areas but just to give you an idea

I went yesterday for the first time and they are such incredible people. I had a facial and cut / color, but there are also mediation services, lymphatic massage / drainage, nail care etc.

If anyone knows of low cost or free services that might also be helpful, please post them here so we have them all in one place!

Thanks~

Excellent idea. I live in NJ and know a number of women who have taken advantage of this offer.

I don't know of any similar programs in Saskatchewan.

However, I'm wondering whether there is an alternative way to gather information on this site for specific groups of people over time. It may be weeks or months later that someone comes across a free service they wish to contribute to this thread. It would be handy to have a straight-forward way of doing this, rather than searching for this thread.

It seems to me that there is a wealth of experience and treatment details that could be gathered from the 4000+ MBC patients who contribute to this site. I'm just looking for an easy way to do this.

Great point. Hoping someone chimes in that knows a good way to do this. It would be really useful for many people!
