Just an FYI

For those of you living in the U.S., just wanted to say that if you have access to a Nordstrom store they have a program that will fit you for a breast prosthesis and bras. They normally stock the prosthesis so you can take it right home. Depending on the location, I believe they also file the insurance paperwork for you. I have no financial interest in Nordstrom. Sometimes it’ very hard to find out about resources right in our own communities. I hope this helps someone!

You’re welcome. I’ve been treated at two different facilities in two different states and sometimes I feel like it’s pulling teeth trying to get pertinent, day-to-day information. It seems like you have to dig and dig just to find simple answers. 🤷‍♀️

I used this service in 2013 after my double mastectomy and it was a Godsend. There should be more resources like this available.

Did you have to make an appointment for the fitting? My breasts are extremely different sizes due to lumpectomy and radiation on the right back in 1997. It’s very annoying and hard to find a bra that fits right (even with taking the pad out of the right).

Yes, especially now with Covid, an appointment is necessary. I know they had to stop for a while with Covid, but ours started up again.

Hi Nocillo, Very true! Nordstroms has makeup for cancer patients too. When I had my own electrolysis and reverse electrolysis business I hooked up with Nordstroms. I use to transplant eyebrow hair for patients who lost their eyebrow hair to cancer. You might also check with hospitals. When I first had cancer in 2004 Virginia Mason in Seattle has a cancer room with wigs, scarfs, and makeup. My oncologist/hermatologist boyfriend showed me where this was and he even tried on a wig which was hilarious!

I started my cancer care at Swedish in Seattle! Hope you are doing well.

Hi. I have not gotten my eyebrows back after a year and a half off chemo. Well, 1 or 2 hairs have grown back. I was considering microblading but would actually appreciate real eyebrows. So reverse electrolysis could help me get them implanted? That would make my year. I still look sick because they are gone and I am over it. Thanks, Andrea

I use to work in emergency at Swedish Hospital in Ballard. But my boyfriend was ahead of the Oncology/Hermatologist Department and worked at Swedish and at Virginia Mason. He was Dr. Joseph Weresch but has a different illness so he retired and moved to Oregon. I feel great, almost normal and received excellent report from my OC. Thank you for asking and I hope you are doing well! -GH
