My husband and I are planning to fly from Iowa to Pennsylvania in August. In making the flight reservations, I was concerned about having to cancel if I have new mets and a change in medication, or feel too sick to travel. Now the airlines are offering full credit for a cancellation, but it has to be used within a year. I also asked about travel insurance. If I get the insurance within 14 days of making flight reservations, I can be covered for a "pre-existing condition," which means a total refund. Has anyone had the experience of having to cancel a flight due to cancer? If so, how was it handled?

Flying with Cancer
Both times I flew just took the chance. No refunds for any reason but I was feeling really good and decided to think positively!! Lucked out both times health and weather wise!! Where in Pennsylvania are you headed?
Pittsburgh. My husband is deaf/hard of hearing, and it's a convention for people with hearing loss and their families.
My son lives in the Mount Washington area of Pittsburgh.
We have club members who are our contacts in Pittsburgh and help arrange speakers, accommodations, sightseeing, restaurants, etc.
We actually live 2and a half hours north of Pittsburgh. We know how to get to our sons house and thats about it. I hate driving in Cities!! To fast paced for me. But our son likes it there so he drives us around when we go down to visit. Hope you have a wonderful time, there is a lot to see and do .
I purchased travel insurance with a flight and had to cancel. It took awhile but I did get a full refund, not in miles but cash. I sent a note signed by my oncologist stating I could not travel. No questions asked. It was worth it.
