At what point does the oncologist take you off Capecitabine with high level of Alkaline phosphatase. Mine is 199 right now.

Hi Anja,

Your oncologist will probably order scans and check your tumor markers before making any decisions. My alkaline phosphate was 237 two months ago on “Cape” now it’s in the normal range.

Best,

Jade

Thanks Jade! That's reassuring. My scan is coming up this month and I'm waiting for the tumor markers result. I had labs this morning. Thanks again for your response!

One question... Did your numbers go down naturally or did you take a supplement or changed your diet?

My integrative oncologist prescribed milk thistle to improve my liver function.

in reply to Wintervt

:) this afternoon I stocked up on milk thistle tea, dandelion root tea and nettle tea, plus fresh dandelion greens instead of my regular aragula greens.I'm so happy to hear it worked for you!

I like dandelion roots but cannot take because I am allergic to ragweed and it makes My allergies worse. Sad I liked mixing them organic and fresh in my green drink!

I wanted to take this but my nutritionist said that she seen some bad side effects so I stayed clear. Let me know how you do I’m still thinking that it’s worth a shot. Ha anyone taken it for a steady period of time? I read it’s good for liver mets.

I have the tea which naturally is not as strong as a full supplement.. I hope that'll help in bringing these liver enzyme numbers down.Anja

Hi anja, ALP can move quickly.. my ALP has been steadily going down since diagnosis 18 months ago. I put it down to increasing my exercise.. and.... and my tumours have grown..so go figure!

It's so hard to know how we can help ourselves, right? And that's all I want to do.

Oh wow blms! What does your onc say? Are you on Capecitabine?

Strangely nit that concerned. Taxol and neuprogen both raise bone inflammation./ap

I think you've got a great oncologist! In my case I think the Capecitabine and my genetic high cholesterol are to blame.

My tumor markers were down thankfully. So I'll increase exercise and teas, and cut out my high fat cheat foods like cheese and the occasional sweet treats :)

I also have genetically hit cholesterol, which I really don't care about! Cholesterol gets a bad rap in general. We also need it for our brains and God knows that is challenging with these drugs!!

in reply to blms

I agree, yet I'm still not totally convinced high cholesterol does not play a role in cancer metastasis.

I know you're right Sandra! I stopped worrying. Support helps so much..thank you. I'm going to pamper my liver :)
