Good morning my survivor sisters..I had been having some pain in my hip had a MRI and the results came back I have avascular necrosis I now have to see an orthopedic surgeon this is probably from the chemo I had in the past and possibly some side effect from the ibrance or letrozole as anyone ever experienced this condition and if so what type of treatment did u receive

I have not heard of this. Can you have radiation instead of surgery? Perhaps someone else here will have more info for you.

Hi Lark78,I had the same symptoms on both hips. Left hip was more severe than right hip and caused me walking limp that time. Orthopedic doctor suggested to do core decompression on left hip to see if it works. The successful rate is 50~90%. Unfortunately, good luck is always not on me. It might also because I was still under treatment whole time during the recovering. However, I did walk like normal after one and half year and am able to go hiking. I just feel not enough strength on my left hip to go uphill and I use hiking poles to support . If you ask me if it’s worth to do this procedure, I would say it really different from person to person. My next step is until it’s really worse and couldn’t walk well, they will do hip replacement. Hope this experience solved your question.

Hi, I hope my comment may help! I was on Letrozole for four years no issues at all other than weight gain. I was on Ibrance for 11 months and I do have hip pain in my left hip🙏

Sheila- I have pain in both hips... snd cancer in there but I never had pain until I went on Ibrance... is it possible the pain is the drug working? I was worried that the pain will mean I am progressing. Dreading next scan.

Avascular necrosis is a lack of blood supply to the head of the femur. I have come across it in my job as a Physio. It is very painful. I am sure Sandra will be able to give you a more comprehensive reply in relation to our condition.Clare

Yes, I had that before my diagnosis. I had a hip replacement that really wasn't that bad. In fact, it was a breeze compared to surgery I've recently had. After recovery, you will not have the hip pain if that is what they recommend. Ann.
