I hope everyone is doing ok. I am doing pretty good. I often think of everyone here, hope and pray you are doing good too. I am stable, will find out how I am doing in June sometime-pet scan.
I am on week 3 of tamoxifen. I have mild neuropathy from the other meds Iv'e had. I seem to be feeling more tired than before. My back is bothering me some, need to continue to work on exercises. Ladies I don't know what it is, for some odd reason I resist doing exercises, tho am better about it than afew months ago. My faith, my church, my doggies are a wonderful source of support. My kids are also becoming more supportive, thank you God. I still work, it's more part time- is good for me to work--helps keep me active. I know that alcohol is not good for us since it has sugar in it. I like the calming effect it has on me, do limit it (white wine). I know there is always a balance of enjoying life and taking care of oneself. Does anyone have any recommendations on alcohol that is ok for us cancer patients to consume (small amounts), is it trying to stay with the ones that are low in sugar and carbs?
hugs and prayers,
Sue

In this order: champagne, gin and tequila. I’ve started treating myself to a glass of champagne 1 or 2 times a week. Feels indulgent and just damn good for my spirits. Though when it’s hot here in Texas, a good cold gin and tonic makes me happy:)I refuse to give up everything for this stupid disease.
Dear SusieMI am in perfect agreement with Melinda. During some evenings or at night when I can't sleep, I drink cocoa adding either cognac or rum, depending upon the supply rather than the sugar content. In the summer, I think that nothing tastes better than gin, Sweppes (spelling?) tonic and a fresh slice of lime. This is only an occasional treat for me. I prefer hard liquor to wine but, occasionally, will drink a glass of wine to be sociable.. I think that has happened twice this past year; when Biden was declared the winner and on Christmas. New Years was a complete bust.
Hi Sue, I hope tamoxifen does well by you. I've been on it for the last 18 months, and seem to be okay. I do think it is fatiguing. I feel better if I take a walk of 30 minutes or more in the fresh air every day. That's the only exercise I do these days, but I hope to add aquafit when the leisure centers reopen.
I eat far too much candy (as I have all my life) to worry much about the occasional glass of red wine. I am of the opinion that our lives are circumscribed enough by our disease so we shouldn't give up any indulgence that adds a bit of pleasure. I like Melinda's final comment here.
Susie — it seems counterintuitive when you’re fatigued, but it really is true as they say that some modest exercise helps to manage fatigue.
There are many articles out there about this. Endorphins released during even modest exercise helps relieve fatigue.
When I’m feeling tired and unsure if I will exercise, I “fool” myself with a “10 minute” routine.
I tell myself I will just walk for 10 minutes, or stretch for 10 minutes, or use our rowing machine for 10 minutes. 10 minutes doesn’t seem overwhelming to me. If I just do 10 minutes, I pat myself on the back. I don’t feel bad for not doing more.
Often, once I start moving and things loosen up, I walk further or do more. I really pat myself on the back then!
Either way, it gets the endorphins going and is good for me.
Maybe you can find your own “magic” routine. Good luck.
As for wine, my doctor agrees that it is ok within reason and moderation. She embraces the belief that we need to do nice things for ourself
