Ibrance tablets

When I started Ibrance I was receiving capsules. They also sent me a pill caddy to put them in. A few months in I then received blister pack tablets with no explanation or direction. I dispensed the blister packs into the pill caddy just as I had done with the capsules. Just recently I read that I should NOT have done that. Does anyone know what how this would affect the medication?

I don’t think it’s the end of the world. I remember wanted to do the same thing since I had the cool “cancer gift” from Phiszer but my hubby stopped me. I think you are fine to take the tablets but leave them in their annoying little packets from now on.

I had the same with the Palbociclib that I take it’s a new formula and apparently the clever little blister packs protect the tablets from any moisture

I think I know... I had one of those pill boxes ans left it open and I think water drops got on it... snd my capsule exploded snd was half gone. What a waste!

i do not like the new pack; however the pharmacist told me that the new pill was created so you don't have to take it with food. i take my pills at dinner time, so it didn't matter to me. i was told that if we take the pills out of the pack ahead of time, the pill can break down and lose its potency. also, the pills are hard to get out of the new pack, especially for some of us with hand problems. i wrote to my pharmacy, then i wrote to pfizer, who told me they would "look into it". i was able to get a couple of more months of ibrance in the bottle, but now they say there are no more. i am not happy with the new tablet, nor the pack, but the pfizer folks, after asking me questions, and having me fill out a report on my complaints, do not seem to care to change anything. so, i will keep struggling with the package and taking my ibrance, because it does work!

Wondering if you or others are finding a difference in your white blood cell count after going on the newly formatted Ibrance? My wbcs are so low on this new type that my cycle is now 21 days on and 21 days off. Wbcs just don’t come back after only a week.

my wbc has been and still is low. The change to capsules didnt seem to make it any worse. I had it go low once and he just had me take an extra week off just the once.

I’ve only had the blister packs. I don’t even touch them...I poke through the back and pop it in my mouth from the opening. I treat those things like plutonium! Had been told by the Accredo specialty pharmacy before I started receiving them not to handle them, put them in a sorter or commingle with other meds. I do think moisture is the issue but would suggest talking to the Pharmacist that dispenses your Ibrance. The Accredo nurse calls me once a month to see how I’m doing and if I have any questions for the Pharmacist.

Yeah, at first I thought of doing that but now I just use the neat container for the rest of the pills I have to take (which I didn't know I could count that high, lol). But I did read that we should try not to touch the pills any more than we have to. And absolutely don't let anyone else touch them that does not have fast growing cells (like cancer) that can be killed by the stuff on the pill.
