Ibrance Storage

Hi Ladies, a quick question. My Cancer Nurse told me today that my Ibrance must be stored in original packaging and I must wash my hands after taking it. In the 19 months I’ve been taking it I have never done this. I have always put it in my pill boxes with other meds to be taken daily.

Does anyone else do this.

Thanks

Hi flowerfairies2, they told me always wash my hands before and after and take it about same time everyday. Also with new tablets you should keep them in original packaging and only take it out when you want to swallow it! Sima

I was never told to do that but we know to wash our hands before and I guess it makes sense after-never did it been taking it two years. The new tabs are to be stored in their original bubble pac and taken out at use. I had capsules before and took them straight from the bottle . I take my Ibrance at night and the others in the am Letrozole and diabetic meds.

When I first started on Ibrance I was told to wash my hands if I touched them. I remember thinking at the time “but that’s going into my body”! I found using a pillbox far easier as I can see if I’ve not taken my daily meds. It means I don’t miss any. I cut down the blister pack enclosing the Ibrance tablets so that they remain inside but will fit in my pillbox. That way they are still fresh and don’t come into contact with my other medication. Job done!

I just started my third month on Ibrance. In month two, I was switched to the tablet and I do remember reading that I was supposed to leave the pills in the bubble packs. As for the handwashing... this is the first I am hearing this news.

Thanks. Never was told any of that, not to wash hands before, or after, and I haven't. With the capsules before and the blister packs now, I take them out in the morning and put in a little pill cup and take at night. So I have been doing everything wrong, and yet it has been working. I like the idea of cutting up the blister pack. I find it a bit stiff, a struggle to get the pill out. I tried using a seven day plastic pill box, but found I do better laying out the day's pills every morning,

I had mine in a 7day pill box out of the blister pack as well. Still if we are not informed what can we do. I know now xx

Hi ladies, I was never told so I put in a 7 day pill box, left it open and I think a drop of water got on it and it exploded one half of it and I wouldn’t use it at all. Very precious... and I had to chuck it never to get it replaced which made me sad. Pharmacy just suggested I skip the dose. Now I keep in original pack until it goes in my mouth.
