Thank you Sophie. I sure am looking forward to no more isolation. Need people who understand mbc.

in reply to Morenow

You’re welcome! No one should feel isolated with this disease. I also understand wanting to interact with other ladies dealing with metastatic breast cancer. It’s certainly not the same as early stage cancer. There are other groups for that. So this is the right place to come for advice and support.

Sophie

Hi there and welcome aboard. 2 1/2 years that is good going - is that on your first line of treatment? I have just started my 20th month of treatment.Clare x

Hi Clare. Thanks for replying. I am on my third line of medication. Hoping it last for awhile. Cancer in breasts, bones, skull and peritoneum and lymph nodes. Doing good today. How are you feeling today?

in reply to Morenow

I am good thanks. After a very lazy Christmas, I went back to work today. I enjoy my job and like keeping my mind away from mbc. I have mets to my spine, lungs and the lining of my lungs. I have an ebike that keeps me active (weather depending - in the UK).I am sure you will make some great friends here.

Where do you live?

Welcome to the community. I'm also invasive lobular with mets to the peritoneum. I was diagnosed in February after a very short "you're cured" period. Glad you found us ❤️

Welcome to the best site on living with metastatic cancer . We give each other support and at times better info than we get from our doctors in my opinion.

Welcome to the group nobody wants to qualify for! I'm not a long timer with this group, but I am a long timer with MBC, bone mets from time of first cancer diagnosis in March, 2004. For me, the first couple of years were definitely the worst emotionally! Having good results with treatment, meeting others with mbc and learning all I could sure helped me get past all that initial anxiety. The best advice I have offer you and anybody with mbc is to see a bc specialist onc, at least for a second opinion, even if you have to travel. The best cancer centers in the US are those that have been given the designation "Comprehensive Cancer Center". There about 50 of those, and most are affiliated with respected medical schools. They have specialist oncs who see patients and do research. The website of the National Cancer Institute has a list of those, if you need to find out where the closest one is to you. Your own onc should support you seeing a specialist onc and help you get an appt. My onc was able to get me in within under two weeks. I've been really fortunate to have rather lazy cancer cells that seem to be pretty easily contained, although I recently had a blockage removed from a ureter and there were cancer cells in the tissue that the urologist removed. First time cancer cells have shown up anywhere in my body other than breast, bones and a couple of lymph nodes. My onc is in no rush to change my meds and I am okay with that, even greatly relieved as my long term experienced old and wise onc retired and this is the first time I've needed any decision making with my new younger onc. I wish I could share my long survival with everybody here.

I always like hearing how long you have been living with it, makes me feel hopeful! Is yours also lobular?

PJBinMI profile image
PJBinMI in reply to Glas0824

Yes, it is lobular! I remember how glad I was when I first heard of a couple of twenty year survivors, in the first six months or so that i was living with this crappy cancer. And there was a thirty year survivor at the first bc conference I attended (Metastatic BC Network).

Yes, I have lobular. I hope to live a bit longer. It is scary getting close to third year mark.

Hi There,You found a great group (and I am NOT a group person.) The incredible women in this group offer amazing suggestions, and most importantly truly understand what you are going thru. Whenever something is bothering you, just post and you will receive a flood of knowledge or even a warm greeting. In an upside down world this is a place to find an answer and even a little comfort.

Take Care ❤️

Tara
