Hi everyone, my mom just had her first of four SBRT radiation sessions. Today she had it on her lumbar spine - she had a bit of a burning sensation post treatment and is now experiencing some dull pain. Have any of you had similar side effects?

Pain after radiation?
Hi Jac, I just joined. Sorry your Mom had the burning pain. I had that pain in my femur bone. Only way I was comfortable was to stand and take my leg off the ground. That was my fourth day, too. I took pain pill before I went after tha and sat on a thick pillow on the way home. Hope she feels a bit better. The table in radiation is so hard.
Hello, your mom is very lucky to have your support. I had 5 radiation sessions in the thoracic region. While I was extremely uncomfortable during the actual radiation (tables are extremely hard and uncomfortable), there was no burning sensation immediately after. Perhaps there is a skin reaction. I suggest contacting the radiation oncologist and let him/her know how she feels. All the best.
Yes. I had SBRT last year. I was told it was painless, and I would have no effects from the tx. I experienced excruciating pain for about 4 days and extreme fatigue for 6 weeks. We all react differently. I hope your Mom fares well. Andi
I had 3 spots treated on lower spine for fracture. I was in terrible before that. I know what you mean about the table. I was ok being still but they had heck of a time getting me off due to pain. I even had pain shot before. After treatment I was still in pain for about 3 to 4 weeks which they said would take time for pain to subside. I was itching all over for awhile. Sure glad pain went away. Had to sleep in recliner all the time.
Whenever I have had radiation treatment I get a flare up of pain. The last radiation I was given a steroid and I had no side affects at all. It’s worth a try.
