I have been stage 4 since October 2018. Last year I had a few issues with my back but since I broke it in 2016, I thought it was related to the accident.
After going to a orthopedic oncologist, I was told that I tore my labrum in my hip. He wants radiation bc he feels that the tear stems from my cancer in my hip and a small lesion on the top of my femur.
I have been doing very well up to now and i am a little concerned that this will be the downward spiral to me not doing well.
I am scared and I thought I would turn to you guys to see if any of you have been through the same situation and have gotten better with the radiation.

I had radiation on my hip for pain but mine was in pretty bad shape. I had a complete hip replacement about 6 months after the radiation. Yours sound like it is in much better condition so hopefully the pain can be taken care of.
I had five treatments as it was just to help the pain. I found it didn’t help but as I mentioned my hip was basically destroyed by the cancer. I was using a walker until I had the hip replacement. Now I use a cane as I haven’t gotten complete use of my hip. I’m going to try physio again to see if I can get it to 100% but the pain has cleared up a lot.
Yes, when I was diagnosed with mbc with widespread bone mets, I had a fractured vertebrae and awful back, hip and knee pain. I had a single session of radiation to my back and it got rid of the pain completely.
I had 10 radiation treatments to my t10 and 11 compression fractures that were the results of lesions. The pain that resulted from the lesions is completely gone. I was barely walking(short distances, with a cane) and couldn’t sleep in a bed because I couldn’t get out of it(thank goodness for recliners). I had some esophageal irritation from the radiation and some exhaustion for a couple of months, but after some PT to strengthen my legs I’m almost as good as new! I would have probably refused treatment if they hadn’t been able to get rid of that pain. Now I play with young grandchildren! Feel free to ask any questions if you have any. Elaine
Thank you Elaine my young son will be happy to have his mommy back and moving. He had no idea I have cancer again bc he had such behavior issues when I had the cancer the first time. I hope I am as lucky as you with being able to get back to normal 🙏
Oh, I hope you are too! When I first went in to see my oncologist (who knew me from my initial breast cancer), the first thing he said was that before we did anything about the cancer we have to do something about your pain. At that point I was in so much pain that I wanted to cry and laugh and hug him all at the same time! It took a little time, but the radiation did help with that acute pain. I am still on routine pain management but it actually works now. Nothing worked on the original back pain. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you! Elaine

I can even lie on my back now....something I was worried wouldnt happen. You"ll get there!
