MRI pain is this possible

Hi ladies

I love reading all of your posts. I need your help . Yesterday I had a MRI with contrast dye so they could see if I have brain mets before I start the clinical trail.

Well long story short I am allegoric to contrast dye so I need to take 3 predizone and one Benadryl so I didn't get hives. I did not get hives BUT within

12 to 14 hours I have horrible muscle and bone pain and weakness in my hands no strength. I can barely sit up. Has anyone had a reaction like this before . I would sure like to hear from someone that has experienced this. Not pleasant

Take care be safe

Shelby

Hi Shelby. Sorry I haven’t experienced bone and muscle pain due to MRI but steroids did not agree with me when I took them for my brain radiation. I think the steroids made me feel weak and fatigued.

Hi Shelby. Sorry for your symptoms. I too am allergic to constraint dye, but I get a rash and slow heart rate as a result. When I reacted I did get terrible cramps but I thought that was due to the tablets they put me on to take down the rash. I also got weakness in the legs, to the point of giving way when I had steroids. I would get in touch with your nurse or Oncologist to discuss this with them. Hope your symptoms ease.Clare x

That contrast dye is scary to me an I don't even have a physical reaction, just an emotional one I am so sorry for your pain and anguish. There is no good way to do it, is there? I am hopeful that the results of the scan will cheer you up with good news and it will make it worth it.

I am allergic to contrast dye too. Many years ago, I had a test using contrast dye and I was in a panic right away because I could not breathe. And I could not talk. That was my first and last experience with contrast dye. I am never going to have another test with contrast dye. So, instead I get PET -CT scans that do not involve contrast dye.

I have had a reaction to dye too. I was told.. (and I am sorry that I cant remember the details) that there are different types of dye.. one is much more effective for the imaging.. and can cause a reaction.. Perhaps it is possible to ask for the other one? .. however, you might not get such a clear image at the end of it.

Shelby I would call your oncologist for sure. Reactions to anything are nothing to fool around with. It's better to be safe then sorry.

Shelby, I hope that you feel better today and you must tell your doctor about this. I just had the same test for brain mets and although I did not experience those symptoms, I came out of it all teary and emotionally worn out. It is a horrible test for me as I just have such a hard time with the whole experience and was uncomfortable as well due to leg pain after my recent surgery. It doesn't help to have cold detached technicians either. I pray for good results for you.
