My breast cancer tumor marker was 1 in August and in October moved to 3.25. Has anyone heard about this?

It can’t be the Ca 15-3 that they give me as the norm is 32. I’m currently at 100 but I’m hoping that it’s inflammation in my eye that’s causing the slow rise. It was 60 when first dx with Mbc dropped to 30 after arimidex, then slow rise. Nothing lit up on a recent scan but some variances noted from prior scan. Some doctor’s don’t like to test at all. Someone posted that they got tms down with exercise so that’s encouraging. Have you had a scan?

👋. I read the normal range is <32. My is 12 right now , but this number vary

Hi BVeasley -

Like Sandra ("girlspitz"), I assume you're talking about CEA (or similar). I believe that 3.25 is still within "normal" range for that...

My docs have said that this is the less reliable TM, and the CA27-29 or CA15-13 (basically the same thing?) are more likely to be accurate, but even those are iffy, accuracy varies by patient.

I do obsess over markers/labs, and even I would say "don't sweat this one". But of course keep an eye on it over time...but only as a maybe secondary indicator.

Best wishes,

Lynn
