Hello pretty ladies 🌺 I wish you all have a nice day. Yesterday I had my first bone scan in the United States (the first and only one was 10 years ago in Venezuela). The first 45 min went well for me. a little anxious but okay. At the end of the Technician he told me: "Wait here I will review the images", after about 20 min he returns and says: "We have to do another bone scan of his knees because we saw something, call his doctor and she ordered the another exam ". Right now ask? He said yes but on another machine. Ask: Did you see a new injury to my knees? He answered: YES. For the next 45 minutes, I had palpitations, chills, or a major anxiety attack. I felt very dizzy. At the end he told me: ok now you can go home. and he took me to the door
I am terrified and I have to wait until Monday to speak with the doctor.
Anyone have metastasis in the knees ???
I am with Ibrance Letrozole Xgeva Zoladex. Cycle 24.

Gosh, I'm so sorry for - and can certainly commiserate with! -- the stress of waiting.
After reading your post, my first thought was "I don't think I've every heard of mets to the knees", but then I realized that many (possibly most?) of us don't actually have their knees scanned. I know I don't. With my PETs and CTs, they do "thigh to eye".
So I suppose it's possible but does seem less likely than if they had seen something on, say, your femur? In my completely unmedical opinion, the knee is sort of complicated, lots of moving parts/nooks/crannies, so it seems that there might be all sorts of irregularities that could easily occur/exist?
Just my two-cents, coming from a pace of ignorance...Hopefully someone who actually knows something will respond soon...
I do hope you're able to relax or at least distract yourself during the waiting part...and please let us know how you make out...
I have had full body bone scans (I have extensive bone mets) for two years and it is customary to have patients wait after the scan and then have another if the first scan is not clear (I have had this happen to me). Was your last bone scan 10 years ago prior to your diagnosis? In the US technicians do not interpret the scans, radiologists do, so I'm really surprised and disappointed that the tech said that he saw something thus causing undo anxiety for you. Is there a possibility that you can talk to your doctor before the weekend? Did you also receive a CT scan? How are your tumor markers?
Oh my gosh the tech was so unprofessional. The “skit” would be the Radiologist wants a closer look at a certain body part. And the put the patient at ease. There is the wait for an additional Order to scan more.
I hope it all turned out ok. I have cartilage loss at my knees, I think the Letrozole speeds up Osteoarthritis.
My dr don’t see patient on Friday. Next appointment will be Monday 2 pm 🙏
My first bone scan was first breast cancer. No metastasis in the bone . Yes I received Ct Scan last Saturday and don’t know what was the result Next Monday at appointment for sure the dr explain me .
And my last tumor markers was sept 18 when I put my xgeva inyección. And they said all is good 🤷♀️
Where in Venezuela are you from? Before my children were born I spent time in Caracas and Los Roques.
It is very encouraging that your tumor makers are good! I'm so sorry you have to wait until Monday, I know that stress and it is awful! I hope you are able to enjoy the weekend. Sending love and a virtual hug! Please let us know what you learn on Monday.
Hi🌺 I am from Valencia , Carabobo State. This is 3 hr the distance to Caracas. And Los Roques is very beautiful for tourist Venezuela right now is very bad and sad for bad governments
I visited in 2000 before the unrest. Are you living in the states now? When I was there I visited some lovely museums and attended a party hosted by a university professor.
I get bone scans every 4 months. They do review them to make sure the images are good. Don't worry until it's time to do so. If they saw something obviously bad, they wouldn't need to take another image, they would know. It was probably a unclear image.
