I visited Mount Vernon Cancer Centre yesterday here in the UK.
After a discussion and several questions I have now signed up for Phase 3 of the Emerald Study. You can look this up on line if you fancy reading more about it.
It will initially involve quite a few tests including a full body MRI etc. It should eventually revert back to 4 weekly hospital visits.
I could be given the trial drug, Elacestrant or standard of care treatment.
I’m just hoping I’ve made the right decision and all turns out positive and most of all it attacks my liver progression.
Wishing everyone much success in their treatment.
Meanwhile, I’m enjoying life and loving my 8 day old chicks.

I’ve been told to stop Letrozole for the next 2 weeks and then I should be able to start he study, unless of course, any further tests deem me unsuitable...
I’ve been told to expect an appointment for a full body MRI soon.
Incidentally, it’s a random selection process as to whether I’m given the new drug, Elacestrant vs. Standard of care treatment. Just like a toss of a coin - I’ve always enjoyed a little gamble.... but I would prefer to be given the new drug,
I was offered to take part in a study in January but I wasn’t told a name so not sure if it’s the same or similar to yours...I was too wound up and emotional at the time so declined...difficult decisions...so I chose Afinitor and exemastane which faiked anyway and my liver mets worsened so I now wonder if I should have gone on the trial...but then Covid came along and I think the study was stopped
I’ll look it up as I find it interesting
Pleased your chicks are doing well...Vanessas chickens have settled in although one (Charlotte) is a bit nasty
I’ll put a pic on for you
Good luck
Barb xx
Hi Jo,
I wish you all the best as you get ready to take part in the study. I hope it proves effective at treating the liver progression and puts a halt on the cancer. Let us know how you get on.
Good for you, I hope you get the Elacestrant too! Do you know if they will put you back on Letrozole then or switch to another type of estrogen blocker? It sounds like they will be monitoring you closely either way so they'll know if it's working. Please do keep us posted!
I was going to participate in the EMERALD trial but was excluded as I am not post menopausal. Elacestrant is supposed to be a very promising drug with few side effects. Wishing you all the best.
If I was offered the opportunity, I would take it too. Alas, we don’t have clinical trials in the Philippines. Wishing you good vibes😄 I do hope you get the Elacestrant.
Well done you.
Being of a scientific background, I am a firm believer in trials.
What have you got to lose by doing it? Nothing. You either get the normal treatment or a new drug that is in its final testing stage.
You are helping all of us and future mbc patients in participating in this.
I go to MV for full body MRIs - I have them every 3 months....such a long process but grateful for them....I keep my eyes shut throughout the whole hour!
Wishing you well and hope you can begin the trial!
I, too, have liver progression. I've been given everolimus and letrozole. My local oncologist is less than happy with me saying I should be on faslodex instead of the AI, but because of my needle "issue" the oncologist at MDA gave me letrozole. The local doc said only the everolimus will be effective.
I say this because I believe elacestrant is oral faslodex. I would love to be in your trial, and i wish you the very best!! Everything I read about the new drug sounds promising.
The trial sounds very good. I want to say thank you for pursuing it. It was women like you who gave us the advanced drugs we enjoy today. Trials are so very important. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
